Plenty of short wheelbase Land Rover Defender station wagons were in the Hongwell 1/72 range if you can stand the nominal scale difference. They had cab mirrors. I think I have at least one which was Schuco branded. The Oxford N versions are the older 88" wheelbase.

Thanks Mike but needs to be N gauge.

I had not spotted the Ford Cargo in the 1/160 range from Axel's Bazar. The box van could be a useful rescale to 1/148, as with the Renault Midliner.

Osborns are about/planning to release an N gauge 3D printed Dennis dust cart/bin lorry as part of their in-house range. It will be available ready painted in two colours (orange and yellow, I believe) but unfortunately, like their Dennis fire appliance/engine, won't be available unpainted for those who prefer to paint their vehicles in an alternative livery or wish to bash and detail them.

I've asked about a RHD and 1:148 scale one, and he has said no problem and will let me know when ready. So expect to see it soon.

Shame it’s not available unpainted.

On a personal note for Kensington Olympia does anyone know what colour the dustcarts were for the City of Westminster circa 1980.......I know this dustcart is a bit to late but it’s the only game in town.

Here's a couple of other pics of those Denis dustcarts:

The top one has plate suffix ref V which is 1979/80. The second one is a 1987/88 registration but pic taken in 1996 - seems they hung around for a while.

They kept broadly the same design in production until c1989 when the headlights were replaced with square ones, then replaced with the Elite in c1994

Yes, that is disappointing. I was also hoping to get an unpainted Denis fire engine/appliance so I could bash and paint it as a London one but they don't do that either. You'd have thought it quicker and easier to produce unpainted versions as well as painted ones for those who want that.

It's 3D printed so might be just one piece.

I did bash a Scania 300 series (from 1987) 4-axle large commercial property dustcart from a Jetflame fire engine/appliance model with a scratchbuilt chassis and body some time back but would like an earlier Dennis one, so will probably also get the Osborns model:

And here's what it is based on:

Hi Grahame, nice model and easy to forget it is 2mm. Maybe just a typo but the lorry is from 1997 rather than 1987, the prototype was introduced around late 1995 in tractor unit form, the rigid ones were 1996.

That's a nice model Grahame, though as Rob points out above it's a 1990s era cab.

It's a 4 series (the badges on the grill are 9 litre engine, 4 series, Construction chassis, 310 horsepower), the predecessor was the 3 series, though I don't think anyone does a model of the 3 (or nigh on identical 2 series) in N.

Here's series 1 to 4 side by side on Flickr.

Scania 1,2,3&4 series

Soehaves do a 3D printed Scania 140 and 141 in 1:148 scale (I posted pics of examples on pages 16 and 17 earlier in this thread).
