I think the claim to shortest platform has changed a few times over the years. Gilfach Fargoed has pretty short platforms as did Black Dog Halt, and there were one or two Staff halts (Crewe & Longsight) that weren't very big. What seems daft is the fact that its a re-opened station... so could the budget really not stretch to an extra few feet of tarmac and paving slabs, to make it a standard carriage length?

Zomboid
I suppose with a station like Beauly, it needs to either be one door (so 15m is enough) or an entire unit, which means 50+m for a 158. I imagine the difference between those two costs made the difference between being viable and not.

Nearholmer
That line still has a very good one, with proper views over open fields on one side, which I might have posted a photos of before, from the final few days of the "Bubblecars". Monks Risborough. It is immaculately well-kept, and has all of the mod-cons that halts are obliged to have these days, and now has direct train services to London. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monks_Risborough_railway_station Little Kimble, between South Aylesbury and Monks Risborough, is now a halt-like station, but the modest former station building is still there, doing duty as a rather nice bungalow.

Which halt had no vowels in its name? (I’ve been told off for making jokes about the Welsh language before, so I will add that I understand the ‘w’ to create a vowel sound.) Were there any others? I don't have any more answers to this question, but I do know another trivia question related to halts: the only station with the letters 'GWR', in that order, without gaps, is Llwyngwril in the Cambrian Coast line. 2

Nearholmer
Yes, was the building a part of a private landed estate, rather than belonging to the railway? Googling just surfaced the same few facts recycled by multiple bots.
RMweb Premium Andy Kirkham Posted September 26, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2021 This video of the Neath & Brecon briefly shows two delectable halts: Cadoxton Terrace from 0.27 to 0.32, and between 1.18 and 1.22 an apparently nameless halt that is actually Pantyfford. I think I shall also post this video in the "Most Derelict" thread. What surprises me, given that the year is 1961, is how busy the train seems to be. At this stage the Neath-Brecon service amounted to one return trip per day with an extra on Saturdays. It is the Saturday extra that is shown here.
