Enough thinking and waffling - time for some action.

Norton Junctions up starters were originally next to the bridge but were relocated further back ... the distant was until recently one of the last two working under a home on the same post.

The distant is Gloucester Panels - motor driven - but on our model it will be Abbotswood's distant and wont have a motor on the doll

So got this far tonight

Reckon that deserves a pint!

Hi Phil

Spend less time enjoying other pleasures and get on with your train set.

But how does it compare to THE holy grail? ;)

Everything looks better after a beer Clive! And different to Ampleforth Ale for sure Liam - but both very enjoyable!

The fun with that signal will be getting the actuation for the two arms on the RH doll working robustly....

Heres a signalling diagram for the new layout - not to scale!

Thats a lot of arms... represents a bit of a mishmash of protoypical schems at Norton, and Abbotswood box had gone by March 69 so represents a hypothetical resignalling with semaphores once an up loop had been laid in.

Progress with the actual signals on

Cheers

Hi Phil hope all is well.

how are you doing with this project, you said a bit ago about using foam as the embankment I can say the best thing I did was using the grey polystyrene builders blocks the ones they use for insulation. Bucks lane is full of the stuff. Easy to cut and you can use pva/Gallia glue and it works a treat. Its also fire retarded (as I found out trying to heat the roll of grass on it)

Postie delivered this yesterday. Many thanks to Andy Pearce at Rail Models who has re-worked an existing model to get the correct layout for Norton Junction box. Etched box plates are ready and waiting, can’t wait to get started on build....

Looking forward to seeing it progress! When you take Abbotswood Mk 2 to an exhibition in the future I suspect people will instantly go, ‘Ah, Worcestershire Parkway!’ The site has changed massively now.

Absolutely! Although Parkway will be immediately off scene behInd the rail over rail bridge...

Mind you the opening of the new layout will be on about the same time scale as Parkway......!

Parkway was first mooted in the 70s, so strictly speaking I think you’ll beat 40 years Phil!

Welcome to the garden railway club!

Cheers Chris. The Kato track is ideal for this usage... had to go for riven patio slabs so some slight unevenness but it copes without issues

Its L shaped Andi ... each arm is 30 x 11 ft , across back of house and down r h side of garden where we usually set up

So options for layout alignment for best light when filming....:D:D
