Ruston
Anyway... This thing is going to be the office for the Shelby Group transport workshop. It is a bit rough but it has been made from bits that I've salvaged from a wrecked and abandoned building that was going on the CVMR, and the old engine shed from this layout. I'm sure I could have done better, back in the old days when we had shops to be able to buy modelling supplies (anyone remember them?) and you could step out of your front door without fear of the Stasi informer neighbours curtains twitching. It will look better after finish painting, detailing and weathering and there's not much can be seen of it once it's in place. Popular Post Ruston
Back on page 9 I showed this Plate wagon. I've given it a make-over to improve the paint and weathering. It, and the Double Bolster, were built for use on my since sold River Don Works layout. The Double has never been run at all and until now didn't even have any couplings. I decided to finish the Double and weather it to add to the pool of wagons used for inward traffic to be cut up in the scrapyard. 21

Barnaby
Very Nice modelling Dave, I'd never believe it was oo. Will you be having a guard rail around that internal office? Best

Will you be having a guard rail around that internal office? Best Just a small one outside the door so anyone leaving the office doesn't walk in front of a lorry. I have painted a rectangle of matt black on the floor to give the look of a pit. Making a real pit would involve cutting into the actual baseboard and everything is too far advanced now to be doing silly things like that. Although it cannot be seen, the office has a black and white chequerboard floor, a desk, filing cabinet and someone sat behind the desk. This 3D-printed cat, from Hardy's Hobbies, taxed my abilities. I could barely see what I was doing when cutting it from the sprue and it was pure luck that it retained all its legs Painting it was just as difficult! It looks very rough here but it is about four times actual size in the photo. The curled up sleeping cat wasn't much easier to deal with. Pre-cat on roof shot ot yesterday evening's play. 18 7

RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted January 23, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2021 Dave the layout just gets better every time you add little bits of detail such as the safety rail outside the office and the car on the roof.
Ruston
This guy came in the post, from Modelu, along with the workman with the toolbox, who featured in my previous post. I've already got one of these shunter figures on the scrapyard section, so I painted this one exactly the same. Is it the same man in two places at once, or his twin brother? No one has ever seen them together... Edited January 23, 2021 by Ruston 14 2
RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted January 23, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2021 The figures from Modelu are really nice. He looks right for the layout. Can I ask Dave do you use enamel or acrylic paints.
Barnaby
Yowsa the detail does bring everything in to life. Fantastic.

I use both Humbrol and Phoenix Precision enamels, and the acrylics on locomotives and wagons, and for weathering.
Popular Post Ruston
I don't often photograph this end of the line as it's not very well lit. If the shops ever open up again, and I'm not in Tier 55, which requires an NBC suit to be worn in order to step out the door, the plan is to fit a stock storage shelf above this area and a strip light to illuminate this area and the fiddle yard. 19 5

RMweb Premium Northmoor Posted January 25, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 25, 2021 That grounded body looks very much like a cheapie Hornby NE fish van. Did this one come in Birds Eye Fish Finger livery, or something even less believable? I remember actually filling mine with cardboard cut-out fish fingers. 1

It is the Hornby Hull & Barnsley style van and this particular one was actually in Birds Eye livery. I had the same wagon "Prime Pork", in green and with a picture of a pig on the side as part of my first ever train set. The set was a Christmas present and I filled the van and open wagons with pine needles that fell from the Christmas tree. I've had them in Weetabix and Kit Kat liveries. I've also seen Smiths Crisps, among others.

Never saw a Pickfords Diamond T. Wynns had two depots near me so I saw their Diamond T's. I have wrestled with a preserved military one. Wrestled is the right word. She and I did NOT get on. Guess she knew I am a true Scammell man. Your wagons/lorries, are always a joy, Dave. I'm looking forward to see this done. Regards, Chris.
