slg
Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys & Girls that is 1515 photos scanned and displayed here. So for now that is your lot but after 7 months I finally have a weekend off work so I may start to scan my late 90's onward pictures. For now though thanks for looking and commenting. 13 3
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted October 18, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 18, 2020 (edited) Thanks ! Couple of comments :- The Merseyrail ones are Hightown, with the unit leaving the station passing the signal box and the next 2 are a unit leaving Birkdale with the box in the next shot. The ones labelled "Llandudno" at the end of September are actually Llandudno Junction, which is a few miles from the town. Cowley 47521
@sig - That’s clearly been a lot of effort scanning everything this last few months but it’s been much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time mate. 5

Jim Martin
The big building that dominates the skyline in the photos looking down the platforms at Southport was the now-demolished Leaf UK factory, the home of the Chewit. I went there for work several times in the 90s: at the time I did all the Common Agricultural Policy work for Customs & Excise in the Liverpool area. They had a huge still from the classic "chewier than a fifteen-storey block of flats" advert on the wall in the foyer. Jim
slg
I do remember it well, especially the advert, most of our photos of the area were taken when we would go shopping with our mother and we would get an hour of that visit to take photos and numbers. Only later in life after everything good had sadly gone did I visit Southport regularly when I worked for Blockbuster.

RMweb Gold The Pilotman Posted April 17, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 17, 2021 In the second and third pictures today, are those open-top containers for household waste? Apart from the Cawoods type for coal, I’ve not seen open-top containers before.
