A bit more progress. The battery power unit (top) slimmed down to slot in the body, with the dummy piston rods prominent. Dummy pony wheels and plenty of rivets!

Blimey, look at all those rivets, you must be  by now! Spectacular progress though, following with interest.

PS I found my own Train Set in a Tin yesterday while sorting through wagons in storage, it just sort of jumped out at me but I had to tell it, "no, no, I really don't have the time right now!" :stop:

Day off! So added a stiff wire extension to the on/off switch for ease of use then decided to use the bulb, in the toy loco, to light a scratch-built lamp on the smoke-box. Just drilled a hole in the top of the toy loco, extended one wire and then drilled a hole in my body. Built the lamp and the bulb then slides in snug. When i paint, the light bleed will disappear.

Now you're just showing off! :D Keep going, I like it!! It was just irresistible really, wasn't it? The light was there, so......

Reminds me I had a similar situation around 1978/9 not long after the Hornby Class 25 came out, I'd just converted a Lima 33 into a 26 so a Hornby 25 into an Inverness 24 was a must. However the supplied headcodes (8H44 or 4P54) wouldn't have looked right on a loco based on Inverness, which didn't really bother with them in reality, so could I instead move the bulbs down into modified control desks and get them to shine through two holes drilled into the gangway doors, with clear plasticard lenses with painted silver rims? After all they were close together. Yes, was the answer - a Highland Class 24 with working headlights!

Given the tight curvature and style of the loco, maybe a fairground-type railway in a larger scale would work nicely?

The VoR loco is an absolute belter, and a brilliant choice of livery to help it stand out too!

Thanks, she runs well, train and all! I was thinking of some sort of mine loco as the puny wind up motor will get it round the supplied oval 2 and a half times. May do a "cake box" type thing just using the curves......:D

A mine loco would look good- something like a Greenbat?  You could actually do both the fairground and mine type ideas, have a Llechwedd-type set up where the loco is hauling a manrider with some tourists on board :)  Burying the track in slate chippings would also disguise the trackwork a bit, so just the rails were visible poking up?

They ain't rails, that's the edge. They are more like an early plate-way, hence the mine idea. The fairground slant is an idea as we had a ride on the sea-front that was almost the same as what's in the box which, I think, is why I bought them. Ah, the memories.....:O

Remember these...........add Xmas present, you get this! Rear wheels are a push fit on the wind up "motor" and then slots in fairly easily under the firebox. Careful with the glue as there is a tiny shaft running across the unit......😠  Real coal and wire stays. The livery is post Rainhill trials and looks more workaday! Will run for about a yard so, could be used in a "Cakebox" or Boxfile layout.  An enjoyable, quick and easy project! (and i still have 2 sets left....)
