That's some front-end overhang on a sharp curve - gives Rapido's APT-E a run for its money!😃

Super job though - you certainly find some obscure subjects, chances are never previously modelled either 👍

That is the ethos in a nutshell! Is it weird? Will it work? It must go round these curves!! Check out the video's (Flickr) to prove it does! I did one of these, slightly larger, using a "Rail King" battery set. (below)

The worrying thing is that this was probably modelled from life...

Actually its an amalgamation of a number of lathes I liked the look of from the 1950-60,

I called it a Hindley after my Grandfather who was a draughtsman at Stoddert and Pit in Bath

I wish, but they are 2 minutes walk from 3 charity shops!

Where on earth are these charity shops selling toy train sets?! The only railway-related toy I've seen in my nearest was an extravagently overpriced Fisher Price circus train...

I have 11 within 10 minutes of my place so invariably something will turn up. There are 8 more if I go in  the other direction. Same as 'phone and coffee shops round here....🚂 plus the regular bootsale up the road!

Colin Garrett has a lot to answer for........now I delve deep into the previously untouched parts of my book shelves!

This photo of a North British, K class, 2-6-2T, ex Kalka-Shimla railway is the inspiration for my next cheapo loco. What a Beast!

I made so many card templates to see how it would fit on the battery loco, that i ended up making it from card, in this case, an Asda "Everyday" teabag box.....and a "Rail King" loco!20201124_210201.thumb.jpg.7d9b7606b512315ea7eec5c66bb83682.jpg

Here is the basic body shell made up using a North British catalogue photo with the later additions drawn on for scale and fit. Power unit is test fitted. Notice the 0-8-0 is now an 0-6-0 after removing one plastic floating axle and cutting a new axle slot. Some additional boiler mountings added. Dome, tool box from balsa and water fillers from pen tube.

Cylinders from card with tooth pick slide bars, Head lights mounted and cow catcher from card. Now it gets interesting! A speed controller is mounted in the bunker with the knob projecting into the cab which allows a proper slow "crawl", up to a scale speed of about 50 mph. This was a fiver and was just for sh/ts and giggles! All hidden under the false coal load. The toy bulb is wired to it, to light up at the front. (Paper "patches" are stuck to the side tanks, to represent the welded repairs.)

This is how it breaks down for painting. The 1.5mm connecters allow the body to be removed for battery/bulb replacement. And the finished Kardboard K Klass! Videos on my Flickr gallery (L.T.S.R.).

Well done!

As built they were still big engines but quite handsome. Can't say those later additions did anything for the appearance though!

Let alone the springs!
