Diesel Hydraulic Era O Gauge Garden Railway (Steve Beattie Class 22)

Recommended Posts

Hi Ph

Hi Phill,

When the 45/s were fitted with ETH the plated over steps on the side were welded up so the side is flush. See pic below. The boiler section on the roof was change too. I did the mod on my 4mm peaks. Hopefully the pic below will show the difference.

Cheers Peter.

Thanks for that Peter, much appreciated :)

Looks like a renumber to a 45/0 is in order then?.....maybe 45035/45/65 or 45075 would fit the bill for this loco then?

Hi Phill,

Happy to help. I would be changing the number rather than doing the mods. The 45/0s still worked plenty of passenger trains back in the day more so in your time period.

Had a quick look on Flickr and 45045 is a namer the others would be fine as they all had the small grilles covered.

Cheers Peter.

If you put "class 45045 Saltley" into Google images someone rather conveniently crashed it into a viaduct allowing several photos of that end of the roof! Although its a different era as what is left of the nose is the later style, I still think once the steps were plated up, the two roof access points would normally be as well.

Having looked at a few 45/0's with numbers ending in 5 (making life as easy as possible) I have I think opted for 45035  as most 45/0's seem to have their numbers at the opposite end  :O , but thankfully 45035 was numbered on the same end as mine ........pic below shows 45035 in this guise in 1976 , altough she too had her numbers at the opposite end later in life, but a 45/0 circa 1975/76 is fine for me  :sungum:

I will need to do the cab interiors, buffer beam detail, roof fan & finish the roof weathering ( which I'm not completely happy with)

Hi Phill,

Are you going to add a driver. I have been looking at the ModelU figures and was wondering if they fit inside the cabs ok.

Cheers Peter.

Youll have to wear lots of variations of the BR uniform, so as to have lots of versions of yourself, a sorta 'Dyson World'!

Like your thinking :scratchhead: ..........something like this then ? :O

LMAO!

I wasnt about to compare you to Arnold, but after I wrote my Post, the Arnold Rimmer World and Terrorform episodes - and his song - popped into my head too LoL!

It would be hilarious, but pricey, if a layout could be populated with modelu figures all with the same head, ie the owner/builder of the layout, it would really freak visitors out! LMAO!

All the best <walks away chuckling>
