Holbeck diesel servicing depot in Leeds 1990

Recommended Posts

Hi Andrew. You're right, Holbeck has been much simplified these days.

The site I recommend is Old Maps. Put Holbeck in as your search destination and choose the largest scale map option possible from as near 1990 as you can.

Hello everyone

I tried to contact Facebook of holbeck depot Leeds so look like closed down ?

So servicing depot usually by any diesel locomotives and DMU ?

In the 1990`s the DMUs would have been neville hill based units Class 141, Class142, Class 144, Class 150/2, Class 155, Class 156, and Class 158/9, Locomotives were generally Tinsley class 47s for Stourton freightliner terminal, Locomotives for the Tilcon stone train ( Class 31s, then Class 37s, then Class 60s ), Parcel locomotives ( Class 31 and 47 ) for Leeds Parcel Concentraition Depot, and Class 31 or 47 for the Leeds Settle Carlisle runs, also there was class 08`s for the local trip workings and Leeds station shunting moves.

Other locomotives could turn up too like class 56s for fuel if Knottingley or Healy Mills depot had problems etc
