RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted October 29, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2015 Hi Andi Video is OK but my mate Bugs Bunny says "Too loud man! My ears man!" Are you sure about the livery of the tank wagon for the blue period? They would have been still Shell-BP like this one http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/bpoepikote/h5343f4ea#h5343f4ea or unmarked http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/bpoepikote/h5343e50c#h5343e50c or more than likely being Western Region an Esso wagon http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brtclassbesso/ha85542c#ha85542c or http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/essopickeringa/h4beb5e40#h4beb5e40

RMweb Premium Bogie Posted October 29, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2015 Sorry couldn't resist the curtain comment. I know you described the workbench as bad but in the video it looks great. It's those little things I want to improve on with my layout. Is there going to be a video with steam? We had that a couple of weeks ago, but here it is again for you, Next will be Western Region Transission.
tersono
That looks terrific - great video. Sound really works with diesel, too (I've never been entirely convinced by steam sound effects - mebbe it's just me).
RMweb Gold Anotheran Posted October 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2015 I wondered if I really wanted to watch 17 minutes of diesels, but it kept me interested right up until the end! I like the fact that in such a small area you can keep plenty of things going on to keep the interest going. The slow running is very effective, though I think you made your driver run a bit quick from one end of the loco to the other a couple of times when reversing in the road closest to the warehouses It give me hope for the sort of video that I may be able to do when I finally get somewhere with DE and NE as I was a little concerned that they may be a bit small for effective videos. But your two here (steam and diesel) together with the Westerham videos show that as long as the angles are correct (and the modelling of a high quality) then a video can take you completely into the scene even when it's so small.

Thanks Neil, and last night, Jeff, (Binny) and I had the two controllers on the go and I was using the back of the Depot whilst Jeff was shunting the front with the Gronk, (08) and some Vans, and that was really good.
Andrew P
Thanks Gary and Peter, and yes Peter your right, most Diesels sound more realistic than some of the Steamers, I think its mainly the Exhaust note on a Steamer isn't low enough. I now need to get some money together and do my Western Transission Fleet of 2 x 22, 2 x Westerns, (Maroon and Green) 2 x Warships, (Maroon and Green) a Hymek and a Green 33, well that's almost another GRAND GONE. Oh and I forgot the 2 x Panniers and 4 x Prairies, 3 x West Country's ''N'', Std 5 and Merchant Navy. Don't think I'll bother until I win the Lottery.

RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted October 29, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2015 How could I have missed this? You certainly snuck this one in under the radar Andy. Yet another great little layout, blows my mind know how you do it. Two layouts at once that is. Will give a read through if I can make more time. regards Shaun. Andrew P
Cheers Marcus and Shaun, I'll do another Video when I get back from Wales, It wont be sound I'm afraid, but it will be Green and Maroon Western Region Diesels.

Andrew P
Love the videos Andy, great layout, very inspirational. I keep thinking of building something similar using the Bachmann diesel depot but cant seem to get round to it! Thanks for that, as for starting a project, well you do need to have a plan, then the right frame of mind on the day you start, BUT once started, like most projects, its addictive, you just want to add the next little detail so my advice would be, have a go, get your self motivated and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The other thing with a small project is that it never looks like a monster that you cant tame, it's just small bite size chunks that you can tick off a day or even an Hour at a time. As for the Bachmann Shed, it a really good one, unfortunately for me, I made the mistake of laying the Shed Roads / Pits under the Metcalfe Shed and the Double Bachmann and Hornby ones are now to big, and the Single Bachmann one would be to wide for just one of my Pit roads. Next time I would get the Right Shed first rather than make do, and the Bachmann one is spot on. All the best. Bustered
Andy, you're absolutely right in that you need a plan, but you also need inspiration which I why I like your efforts so much! Keep up the good work! Best wishes Nige
class37418stag
Well the Concrete Hardstanding has been laid this afternoon and will just need a little filler before painting in a cream Concrete colour to match the Pits. Shed Hardstanding 001.JPG Shed Hardstanding 002.JPG EDIT = Just realised I forgot to do the bits over the sleepers at the Road Ends, will do that tomorrow. There has been some work on Pencarne as well today but not a lot worth photographing as it was all little bits and pieces. I like your concrete mean card or plastic? Where I buy that from thank you
