micknich2003
The only photograph I can put to hand, showing the Cherry Tree signalling diagram, our then two and a half year old daughter looks on. Summer 1980.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 24, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) Hi, everyone, sorry about being late. Now tonight I thought that we would have a look at Beverley station. There are four photo's. The first is another from the hot summer of 1976. The second one dates from about 1985, and looks up the line to Flemingate. The next photo' shows the station from the Station Crossing. Finally there is a view, from 1988 of a three car DMU - 108 DMBS, 101 TSL, and 108 DMSL. I think that there is a piece of hardboard blanking off the four character headcode box on the DMBS. Here's the station and signal box in late June 1976: Here is the view of the line looking to Flemingate in about 1985. There used to be a footbridge on this side of the level crossing, but it was removed in the early '70's. Here's the station looking from the level crossing in about 1985: Finally, here is that DMU in 1988: With regards, Rob. RMweb Premium Simon Lee Posted September 25, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 25, 2015 Mick, Is that a young Mr Chandler in the shots of Beverly North ? Thanks Simon
micknich2003
Simon, yes the signalman is the young Ted Chandler, he's now long retired, but is still seen stalking the streets of Beverley.

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 25, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 25, 2015 Thank you Mick for that wonderful photo' of Beverley c1926. It is the very kind of photo' which I keep looking for on Google, but come up with not too many results. Thanks again. With very best regards, Rob. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 25, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 25, 2015 Again, many thanks, Mick for that photo'. A most historical shot, which I've enjoyed seeing. And many thanks as well for posting the 'white plan' of Beverley, which again is very informative. Regarding those of you who are not so sure, you may indeed post photo's from York and Scarborough, for it makes sense really, since they form a kind of boundary to the old East Riding. Tonight something a little different. Three photo's of the HST which was named at Beverley station on 10th April,1984. The power car was 43053. It was named ''County of Humberside''. Although on the site RailUkInfo it gives a date of 30th April, 1984. My photo's are marked the 10th - who's right I wonder? With regards, Rob.
micknich2003
Rob, what's your opinion on me posting this one, Springbank North, Hull. August 1965? It's obviously in the East Riding, but possibly off "Your Beaten Track".
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 25, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 25, 2015 That's OK Mick. A good photo', and I hope to be posting some photo's of Hull and area in the near future. If you have any more then please feel free to post them. With best regards, Rob. micknich2003
Rob, I have literally hundreds of Hull pictures. For starters Walton Street mid '80's, I will have somewhere, the full details.
micknich2003
Mallard, passing Walton Street about 1988, again, and somewhere, I have the exact details.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 26, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 26, 2015 Thanks for those two photo's Mick. I believe that the photo' of Mallard could well have been taken on the same day as the photo' which I took at Beverley at the start of this thread on page one. Look forward too seeing more photo's from you. With regards, Rob.

PinzaC55
I missed this thread as I haven't been visiting this site much lately but here are a couple of my 1978 photos of Brid station for what they are worth. The place was an oasis of orange enamel signs and the only remaining "penny in the slot" Stephenson's Rocket I was aware of at that time. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 26, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 26, 2015 Thanks Mick for that great photo' of a C12 at Cottingham. And PinzaC55, thank you for the photo's of Bridlington station on December, 1978. I remember well the model of Rocket - I was always getting it to work! Will be back with some photo's a little later this evening. With regards, Rob.
PinzaC55
You're welcome! On April Fools Day 1978 I made my way on foot - I didn't have a car - to Carnaby station. It had only been closed 8 years but looked very disused. I spent some time in the box chatting to the bobby but didn't take a photo. Carnaby Station 1.4.78 par PinzaC55, on ipernity Scarborough DMU at Carnaby Station 1.4.78 par PinzaC55, on ipernity Hull DMU at Carnaby Station 1.4.78 par PinzaC55, on ipernity BTW regarding your earlier photos of Arram I visited it on the same day and got invited into the stationmaster's office where (if my memory serves me correctly after 37 years ) he had a signalling panel. The rest of the office was pure NER.
micknich2003
Carnaby signalbox c1981. I probably have an interior view, but it will need to be scanned.
PinzaC55
I think it may have been Carnaby where the bobby pointed out that the date of opening of the box was scratched on the window glass ? Bedale has, and Leyburn had, this also.
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 26, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 26, 2015 Thank you PinzaC55 and Mick for those excellent photo's. They all add to the thread in a most informative way. Tonight, I have a series of recent photo's from 2010 of Filey. I think they show the restored roof quite well. To think that the roof might well have been demolished by BR is a dreadful thought, but thankfully the roof was restored instead. Here is the base of the former water tower: With regards, Rob.
micknich2003
I think it may have been Carnaby where the bobby pointed out that the date of opening of the box was scratched on the window glass ? Bedale has, and Leyburn had, this also. I have checked my notes, I have nither the opening date, or the year the first locking frame was installed, almost certainly the 'box would be opened c1875, and with the introduction of Block Working. During it's life Carnaby had three different locking frames.
micknich2003
I have very little on Filey, but here is something a little different, the Signalling Plan/Locking Chart/Locking Table for Royal Oak North.
