BR Mk2b FK Coach Interior

I'm updating a few old Lima Mk2b coaches as a cheep and cheerful project, and decided to paint the interiors. Does anyone know what the interior finish was on the Mk2b Corridor First coaches?

I know the early Mk2 FK had wood panelled interiors on both corridor and compartment side, but by the time of the Mk2b FKs in 1969 had this been changed to pale 'formica' type panelling? I do know the TSO used this, but were the FKs different? Also what colour were the carpets in Corridor Firsts? I'm modelling the 1968-72 period.

I have Michael Harris's book on the Mark 2s in front of me. On page 58 he says "The interior décor was generally similar to the 2As, except that the compartments had fitted carpets in a brown and gold pattern.

Hope that is of some help.

Simon

Thanks - I hoped someone would have that book nearby. So the Mk2b FKs were different than the TSO internally.

I remembered after I posted that the start of Get Carter (1971) has the interior of a Mk2 FK. Looking at this closely I think it is a Mk2b or 2c as it has the orange vestibule ends, which can be seen from 0:46

The one in Get Carter is a 2a. The first class in 2a also had the orange interior at the ends and on the gangway doors, a point not grasped by Bachmann. You can tell it's not a 2b as the 2b stock had doors at each end of the corridor between that and the end vestibule whereas 2a did not. Otherwise, the interiors were very similar apart from the carpets as noted above.

That's really great info, thanks for clearing it up.

So....this would be the interior of Mk2b...?

Can I also assume the Bachmann Mk2a BFKs should have orange doors/vestibules?

I think it is Mk2c (with the lowered ceiling)

The Bachmann Mk2a BFK should have orange gangway doors.

You can easily see one of the significant features of the Mk.2 FK (& BFK) interiors there: the glass and aluminium partitions, quite different to the old style Mk.1 interiors. Yes, the two sets of lights and flattened ceiling make that a Mk.2c.

The 2Cs had lower ceilings and also a hatch on the roof a la 2D/E/F for the air conditioning equipment which in the case of the 2Cs was never fitted, but which had the space just in case.
