Nice video too. Thank you Richard. With regard to the rail heads, there is equal polishing on both lines. It is just the lighting effect, which on the day of videoing the up line the sunlight had a very orange hue to it compared to the previous and following day where it was a much whiter light. The mesh fencing along the dive under which is in the centre of the frame is also causing an exposure problem when the sun shines on it. I had to reduce the exposure post processing. A similar effect is happening at Lincoln Road where there is quite a contrast between the brighter ballast on the new line and the darker ballast on the Joint Line. Brighter overcast days tend to be better for video IMO, but then it is usually a bit too cold to be out this time of year. 1 1

I bet the contract says it had to be restored to the same condition as it was in before work started.

Donington Road
Some photos from around the entrance at Hurn Road taken by Trackside ECML this afternoon. The corner on the road being reconstructed. Hurn Road looking north towards Glinton, the A15 dual carraigeway is behind the trees on the right. Looking down Hurn Road towards the ECML. Looking from the opposite direction, the ECML behind the photographer. All that is missing is a signpost to say where the next destination is. Behind the hedge to the left in the previous photo. A lot of topsoil still heaped up............. ......and still a lot of rubbish to clear up. 6

Donington Road
At Cock Lane today. The fields to the west have been divided with a fence, which then continues along the Environment Agency's access road along side Brook Drain towards Hurn Road. Three o'clock and finished for the day. I can see this thing getting ambushed if it has to stop for those Joint Line freights crossing........ .......as it is carrying some rather expensive fuel. Then I got rumbled doing a bit of spying.

Donington Road
The top surface of tarmac was laid today at Hurn Road. The reversing bay for larger vehicles such as the bin lorry to access the properties at Hurn Road. The tie-in for pedestrians and cyclists to access the bridleway under the A15. Getting soil ready to landscape the area.
RMweb Premium melmerby Posted February 9, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 9, 2022 I hope they are going to build up the surrounding ground around that turning point, else there will some stranded vehicles, having gone over the edge.

Exactly what we were saying earlier. It looks more like a launch ramp off an aircraft carrier, just right for flying over the green fence. They must put Armco around it surely or those concrete Jersey barriers. Note also that there is no raised kerb, the road surface is flush with the top of the kerbing. Donington Road
Something going on in the field of what was the main site. A temporary roadway being laid around the large spoil heap and more surveying taking place. 4 1
Donington Road
More from the field. Digging samples between the spoil heap and the Lloyds building. The temporary mats have been laid all around the spoil heap. Rig set up for taking core samples behind the spoil heap. We even have a survey marker flag on the top of the spoil heap. Does it really need a 5mph speed limit sign to drive on the mats? A few mats laid near the spillway at Cock Lane. Carefully laid around the white marker flag. All photos courtesy of Trackside ECML Anyone know what the different colour marker flags denote? There are red, yellow and white ones on this site.
