Escondido's frieght area itself would probably make a model in it's own right , there's a couple of industries there and I think a lumber merchant along the line and one of the intermediate stations had a spur with a boxcar at a warehouse behind the platforms.

 

I've travelled the entire line visiting several of the breweries along there , hence the memories of my "modelling survey" are somewhat vague.....

 

Only just noticed your post.

 

There is a section of the line that is just freight with a loop built off it for Sprinter only services (near Lost Abbey / Port Brewing). I guess that there is no need to move the ramps on the station on that section but as you say with all those breweries visited my recollection is also somewhat vague. based on feedback for a question on another forum the cabooses will have an interior - here is what Rapido said:

Nothing from Bachmann, but several US retail websites have a special edition Charger listed in the Amtrak 50th Anniversary Scheme.

 

Pre-order deadline is listed as April 1st with delivery around October/November.

 

Unknown at this point is whether Bachmann have tooled up the correct Amtrak nose for this model or if they are putting the paint scheme on their existing model.

 

Bachmann replied to an email query - new nose being done and official announcement coming this week.
