JSpencer
Perfect for my snow layout end to end plank. A class 33 with one on each end. The problem is, its last show is for 31st October, when it will be replaced by another layout at shows.

RMweb Gold Hattons Dave Posted October 14, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2016 Is one version the "Stratford shark" version? If so I'll have one for sure... It certainly is! BH-004 will have the 'sharks mouth' on the snowplough. http://www.ontrackplant.com/otp/965579 Cheers, Dave
cromptonnut
Awesome - you need to update the description on the main page to reflect that. Added to wishlist because I can't place the order right now due to us possibly moving before then.
RMweb Gold Hattons Dave Posted October 14, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2016 Awesome - you need to update the description on the main page to reflect that. Done! RE the order, just had a chat with the guys on the other side of the office who say that address details can be changed at any time on a Pre-Order, if that helps. Cheers, Dave

RE the order, just had a chat with the guys on the other side of the office who say that address details can be changed at any time on a Pre-Order, if that helps. Will I be charged now, or when it's dispatched? I don't want to miss out if it sells out as I can see that being quite a popular one, however I also don't want £43 taken out of my credit card for something I'm not likely to get for over a year. cromptonnut
Ok done ... as I've never had a pre-order item with yourselves before (although I have ordered loads...) do you send emails a few days before it's in stock and ready to despatch, as it'd be great to be able to tie it in with any other purchases I may want at the time and save on postage. Kelly
Interesting choice. Modelling the NSE period, I'm not sure if I'll have great need for this. The snowtrain however with the snowblower has been something I've wanted to model, though doubtful that'll come out RTR (support coaches maybe). RMweb Gold BR Blue Posted October 15, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2016 Definitely get a couple. Hattons dealing directly with the factory in China and cutting out a manufacturer is probably a trend that will continue.
cromptonnut
A timely post there reminding me that I need one for each end so I've just added an NSE one to my order. I'm with Kelly in really wanting the 'snow train' (http://www.departmentals.com/news/19) but it's unlikely to happen. In the meantime I've converted an old Lima Siphon I had no use for, by mounting a PC fan on one end and adding a DCC chip to be able to control the fan and the lighting effects so I have my own "rotary snow blower" (yes I've painted it bright yellow!). All I need now is snow, and a garden railway to run it on (I'm thinking ahead, you see...)
RMweb Gold BMacdermott Posted October 15, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2016 Congratulations to Hattons on these announcements. In The Wishlist Poll 2015: The 1940s Warwell was the most-wanted pre-1948 Freight Stock item and was in the Top 50. The 1970s Warwell was the most-wanted post-1963 Freight Stock item and was in the upper echelons of the High Polling segment. The Beilhack Snowplough was in the upper echelons of the Middle Polling segment. Brian Madermott (on behalf of The Poll Team)
Wheatley
Is that £43 per vehicle or per pair ? Given that they normally work in pairs.
cromptonnut
Is that £43 per vehicle or per pair ? Given that they normally work in pairs. Each. Not an unreasonable price considering they're a specialist interest item which people may only buy one or two of - a bit like the Bachmann observation coach. Wheatley
a bit like the Bachmann observation coach. I didn't buy one of those either. Thanks.
cromptonnut
As with all models, the amount we want them is based on how much we need them, and what our budget is. I have got 'up close and personal' with the "Stratford shark" plough some years ago on an organised depot visit through connections so it was one of these things I always wanted in model form. If to you it's just another overpriced model that you don't really need, then don't worry about it. However, if you really really really need one, then the price begins to come irrelevant, even if you need to sell a kidney on Ebay to be able to afford it. YesTor
As with all models, the amount we want them is based on how much we need them, and what our budget is. Precisely. If you don't consider said model value for money, or justifiable at the price then as with anything in life the answer is simple... go without!
