After that, the details can appear...

I've collected old advertising from the web and adapted them on a 150 x 100 mm size: photo standard. I printed this composed "photo" with my photo printer on gloss paper to represent enamel signs.

Mine is, unfortunately, at the moment. It may be coping ok with the heat in the loft but I don't!! 🥵

I understand the problem. Mine and all my layouts are located in the basement. I'm lucky: the temperature is better there than inside the house.

The pumps are fine, albeit strange to modern eyes. The problem is the figure who is too short for a typical adult - his head should be above the roof of the pickup truck.   See 9:16 of this video if it doesn't show the relevant image as the thumbnail

Thank you for your interesting answers and the nice video!!!

Yes, that's right: the figure is too small.  > It's a 1:50 from Preiser.

And the pick-up is 1:43. But looking to the photos, I'm not sure the pick-up is 1:43. Maybe bigger than the good size.

This man is 38 mm high. So in 1:48 > 1m82 (tall man)  in 1:43 > 1m63 (small man)

A comparation with different sizes: at left, the man with a hat is 1:43. At right the shopkeeper (Phoenix figure) is 1:43.

I've found a video about the Tokheim 850 gas pump. They were tall. There was too models of 850. The largest one is the brown, at left on the photo.

The man says: the body is 4ft high so 1219 mm. In 1:48 > 25 mm. My models have 30 mm bodies! 5 mm too high. And certainly a too big diameter.  I have to saw them 🥴

... or to install more modern models at the good scale.

It's time to wish you a Merry Christmas!

At this time, I'm working (rehab) on my "old" N scale layout because it goes to an exhibition by the 7th and 8th of January. 5 US layouts will be exhibited.
