The blue color is "Ultramarine blue" from the brand "The army painter". The real color seen by my eyes isn't really Conrail blue.

My phone camera has changed the color a little bit. It's more dark and more grey in reality.

Here is the real color seen with the photo of the maker.

Must admit that is what I'd go with. 👍

Yes, the best solution is to clean the body and to paint it in black color. Maybe with a yellow stripe...

Thanks Jack, it certainly looks darker on the cap. I'll have to stick with Tamiya French Blue and Vallejo Andrea Blue.

I've tried to make photos to compare the "blue" colors of different locomotives.

I used my old iPhone, a Sony and a Nikon camera.

The most light blue is the HO scale RS11.  2. The O scale RS3. 3. The HO GP35 4. the most dark is the O scale Baldwin.

It's very difficult to see the nuances in a photo.

Here we see well:

Yellow wasp stripes...? 👌😁😉

I like a lot but the Baldwin don't have the space for the stripes: the radiator is in front of the bonnet. No metal nose like on this Alco.

The stripes were painted round the edge.

Wow! Nice paint scheme. Thank you Ray. I didn't know there was Baldwin with a Conrail dress 👍

An ex Reading VO that had been EMD'd around 1959/60. Apparently a couple made it to Conrail blue, but without the usual logo's.

Back to US trains... sorry for the silence.

I've started to make a caboose for my shortline. I've started by shortening a "normal" one:

The original picture:

And the model I'm scratchbuilding: I've used Photoshop to modify the photo.
