So, I've started to build this old kit. The quality of the plastic remembers me some old toys kits from the 70's 😆

I have opened a door. It was possible because of the thin thickness of the parts.

Anyway, I've bought an old kit which is available from a french model shop to make my grain truck: a difficult kit but a good base!

It will be interesting to see this kit next to that green Chevy truck that was in the last few posts on the previous page of this Thread. 👍

Some photos to compare. The red body is too high: the wheels aren't at the good position.

The red is smaller than the green one. The green is 1/43 (Chevrolet 3100) and the red is 1/48 (Chevrolet 6400)

The green: comes from a Altaya collection in 1/43.

The red: I have to lowered the chassis: the original connections between the springs and the axle aren't well done. It's an old casting.

I'll send you more photos when I have modified. And then, I think my red will be really in 1/48.

I've found photos of the prototype and someone who had built the kit. The space between the wheels and the chassis isn't good in 1/48: I have the same problem to correct. A photo is maybe easier to explain than sentences:

A nice video I've found on the web. Exactly what I want to model 👍

Stay tuned 😉

They're close, though, aren't they. Shows the green one must be 1:48 as well, & not too big as we assumed.

The green is 1/43 (Chevrolet 3100) from Altaya/IXO Models and the red is 1/48 (Chevrolet 6400). The red is supposed to be bigger than the green but they aren't at the same size

I'm still thinking to my gas pumps. I've just found a few minutes ago an old photo diffused on a Facebook group about old service stations. I'm surprised by the size of the pumps.

So I'm happy because I think I can keep mine. They have the "good" size.

Look at that:

If petrol was still 9 cents per gallon everyone would have pumps that size!

Note it says "plus tax" in small writing underneath. 😉

A reminder that in the UK we have some of the cheapest fuel in Europe, until the tax is added, making it one of the most expensive....

Hello there!

Just a little news about the Iowa Central: the workshops have began to paint the big Baldwin VO-1000 with a first coat of primer.

The workshop manager is glad to see the result 🤣

Today, despite the hot weather, I tried to paint the trucks sides of the Baldwin. A coat of Tamiya matt black. After a few minutes each coat of paint is dried in surface and ready for the second one.
