JAMO
No this layout is definitively screwed to the benchwork. But I'm planning another layout more adapted for exhibitions.
JAMO
love the sound track, seems to run ok, other than the naughty tank car Ray Ray, you had a good sight. The tank car has derailed because the gauge in the curve was near 33.5 mm and not 32 mm. So I've decided to correct my mistake regauging one rail. This work took only two morning but it was necessary. Now all is ok. And the tank car runs well. I'm happy.
JAMO
Here is the last version of my layout trackplan. You can see the second part of my project (MARKI'S STREET and WORKSHOP YARD). The name anf the plan of "Workshop yard" can change. It's not definitive. I've just choosen this name because my workbench is located just under. And I've forgotten to tell there is a swithable zone (the curve) between West Yard and Marki's street ; where it's possible to choose the West yard controller or the Marki's street one. It's a cab control system. Here is a more precise plan.
long island jack
Does that mean you'll be building a car float to connect Marki's street with the French layout, lot of water in between!!!! Ray
JAMO
Not exactly Ray. The blue color on my plan shows the French layout. I've rebuilt the planet: now USA is close to France: no pond between them I haven't enough space to make a car float but it was a very good idea. When I use the US layout, the French layout will be the fiddle yard of the US one. When I use the French layout, the US layout will be the fiddle yard of the French one.
JAMO
I've made photos of the layout during my first tests. You'll can see some cars aren't yet detailed and weathered. I've started to build the coal merchant track: the first ties are glued!
F-UnitMad
Looks great even before scenery - the views will be fantastic with it!! The UTLX tanker is missing top handrails isn't it? Easy enough to make your own, which would be better looking than the originals, which are probably plastic if the tanker is a Weaver model.?

Alcanman
Great pics. O scale has such a presence and the photos highlight the imposing size of the models. Can't wait to see some scenery! Mal

Easy enough to make your own, which would be better looking than the originals, which are probably plastic if the tanker is a Weaver model.? Thank you Jordan. Yes the UTLX tank has broken handrails due to the shipping from USA to France. But it's not a problem. As you said, I'll make these parts by myself. I have nickel silver fine rods in stock. Yes it's a Weaver model. So it needs some detailing work.

JAMO
Great pics. O scale has such a presence and the photos highlight the imposing size of the models. Can't wait to see some scenery! Mal Many thanks to you Mal. Yes O scale seems very big and close to the prototype when we have close-up views. It gives the impression of heavy metal running.... atmosphere. I like O scale for ambiance and presence.
JAMO
Jordan and Mal: I hope to begin scenery soon. Here is a photo taken on my French layout. We can imagine we are somewhere in the Iowa and the S-2 arrives to bring the tank car...

JAMO
Thank you Jordan! I take my inspiration from the wonderful layout from my friend Tom Johnson and prototype photos and videos: the more I see and I learn and the more I feel the atmosphere I have to reproduce my small world. I did the same with all my others layouts. For french layouts, it's easier because it's the country where I live and a lot of people (family or anyelse person) can tell me how did it was in the 50's and the 60's. Thanks to the Internet, the books and sometimes testimonies I can find a lot of informations. That's very useful.

JAMO
Well, some work today: I've glued some sleepers to the board to make the spur track. The sleepers haven't the same space between them. It's an old not maintened track. The adaptation of the end of the track close to the turnout. The ties have to be modified. The plywood baseboard is cut at the exact shape of the other side board. And one for the pleasure of a long field depth thanks to the sunny lighty day. Easy without tripod today! More to come soon...
