Ipsy--wispy spider will be looking for the nearest Water spout , got them fitted at the pub yet, Kevin ???

( Nice to see the Flanders &  Swan "song of the weather" being quoted above, gentle, British humour at its best )

In Australia we have been brought up with  "Incy wincy spider" but I see there is also "Itsy bitsy spider", your "Ipsy wispy spider" and "Ipsy dipsy spider".

My mother used incy-wincy, too - and she never got to France, let alone Oz! Her sister did on more than one occasion, even moved there - but moved back. OTOH their grandfather had visited OZ in the 1880s, touring as an MCC player!

Likewise, I've not heard any other version tbh, even though my mother got as far as Italy by the age of 15 in nineteen fifty something and later visited her older brother several times who moved out to WA long before I was born.

Her father got as far as Mesopotamia but he was playing a Vickers gun...

At the risk of completely derailing Panniers, I'm going to add to the spider theme. Stu's photograph shows something I have only ever experienced the once, and it is an amazing thing to see. The spiders in my version have not been quite as busy as those in Stu's version.

When was yours taken, Stu? Mine was taken in early December.

I’ve seen similar on a Soring morning across UK hedgerows.

I believe it’s a certain type of spider, but can’t recall which one.....

Re: Pannier and 48xx - lovely shot as ever @KNP

Im surprised no-one has said this already....

How can I post an innocent picture of two locos in a station and end with posts on drag racing and spiders......?

That's how RMweb works!

Looks like the 14xx is a bit slow off the mark there, the pannier's got a bit of a head start...

Edit:  Ooh, look, page 400 - congratulations !!
