After the Castle-hauled specials had gone, a lone trainspotter studies D1653 as it waits to depart from Birmingham Snow Hill with the last running of the 'Pines Express' from Manchester to Bournemouth on 4th March 1967.

Looking at the posters above, Morecambe and Wise were just finishing a panto season in Sleeping Beauty at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Bernard Thorpe Estate Agents were in St Martin's House, then only five years old but demolished for the Bull Ring redevelopment in 2000.

This one has been on RMWeb before, but I can't remember if it was in this thread. At Patchway - on Saturday October 2, 1971, 6000 King George V makes a return to mainline steam, running from Hereford to Tysley.

6000 was working at Tyseley Open Day on the following day.

The Pullman Cars were parked by the Coal stage. They had steps up and visitors were able to walk through the train.

Barrow in Furness during the first few weeks of Class 37 operation in June 2015.

Having just jumped off 37423 that had hauled us from Preston.

I appreciate this thread is for full size trains, but I've got a similar photo taken on my model railway with my Bachmann '8750'. May I post it here?

*EDIT* Actually I may have found one!

I'm not convinced the rack system has been engaged by the locomotive here as 0-10-0T E1067 (built Nippon Sharyo/1967) climbs the grade above Batutabal, West Sumatra, pushing two hoppers of coal and some decrepit passenger accommodation en route to Padang Panjang - September 1978.

When I put Dad's photo on my ipernity photosharing pages, someone who had also been there, put a link to a coloured version he had on Flickr. He and Dad must have been standing a few feet apart. https://www.flickr.com/photos/60631240@N02/6092349170/in/photolist-ahmT9W-7vCEMZ-borbXp-bNcf6i-bqLHTC-ijtcDD-c1swb-5DeXwG-dL1Nph-7w1peS-NGUAF-6Hd3CP-7k95iD-bTGS7-GyfNf-78s2hh-asvRKU-8BTqDZ-4MxTA4-a91L84-7BWnn9-7zAHCE-22fr4F-4YdfMP-786CyP-7hw5gK-2ytt5d-9spxdf-9nenoA-78dBfW-dqyJu9-ieCmaC-jpycW2-39Ftnb-8S48nH-e66G97-4DYnqA-78pAzj-2a1CKW-bXatHA-9aciP2-5EDqLq-9ac6yB-9acdZZ-fgnEBB-e9NP1h-gBRXKL-7yiEhk-5HQ1ip-bY2nSm
