Thanks for posting. pH

Around 1965  I would travel from Leeds to Glasgow on the down Thames - Clyde.  --  Happy times

That was a lucky catch. I was going to travel by that train anyway, or I would never have seen it. The rostered Peak had failed on shed, and this combination was what Corkerhill came up with as a replacement.

Brit 70009 took it on from Carlisle to Leeds.

Odd that the center-cab design never made it here, just some small critters mostly used in industrial  switching; an example would be the GE 44 tonner.

That's a 220 and a 390.....

Can't find a pic of a pair of 220s, but here's 2x222 and 2x390

Moving on from the pairs.

How about something that isn't/wasn't common (but does - or did - happen on an infrequent basis)

I offer a 390 without 25kV in sight.

On a diversion via the S&C - a 57/3 was on the sharp end.

Only four in this shot, though.

Barrow Hill, Staveley, numbers not recorded, sorry.

And all 5 are EE products (thought not necessarily built in an EE factory).

Continuing on the same theme, here are another 4 EE built or derived products. EU06-02 was built by EE in the Vulcan Foundry, in 1962. Behind it stands another 3 of the Polish version of the EU06, the EU07. All but identical, the Polish versions were built in the hundreds, construction continuing well into the 1970's. Newcastle 29th October 2000 sees a pair of GNER Class 91s going south 'tender-first' through Newcastle. That's not a blemish in the sky - it's the end of a rainbow!

Unfortunately I did not make a note of their identities at the time - any offers?

If there are no more 'doubles' I might take you up on that - it's a chance to air an old chestnut of mine (ooer, missus!) and present you all (again) with this, in the hope that someone new to it might be able to help. It has appeared previously on another thread, but no takers.

It was taken at Low Fell and shows the northbound car carrier train with a BR Type 2 (complete with diesel brake tender carrying Class 1 headlamps!) aiding a failed(?) Brush Type 4. Goodness knows why I did not make a note of the numbers at the time. Does anyone have a recollection of this and a notebook with the missing information, please? With a bit of detective work I have tied down the date I took this to 2nd August 1967 (previously I was just guessing 1967/68).

Hopefully
