Indomitable026
It looks a bit like a S t a t i c ' V a n used as an ice cream vending unit to me...... Did I really type Static Caravan then? Should I report this post?
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted April 12, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 12, 2012 (edited) Ok, time for a few more of Craig's photos.... First, round the rear, the side that will face the backscene, and will never be seen The side facing the platform - or on the layout, the exit to the fiddleyard. This again won't be seen but will be modeled The opposite end facing the depot. Definitely seen and modelled. And the front face. A shot down the interior stairs. RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted April 13, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 13, 2012 Now, I've previously mentioned that I can't quiet figure why the box isn't symmetrical - particularly the rear. Strangely I was browsing on google and came across this photo for sale on eBay. I think, if this really is St B box, then the large goldfish bowl arrangement on the elevation facing the depot explains much.It would lend weight to the box being rebuilt later and non-standard dimensions resulting. What do others think? GWR-Fanatic
It looks more like a Western Region signal box to me than GWR, most photos I've seen of GWR signal boxes are mainly built of wood, but I will be most happy to be corrected.

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted April 14, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2012 (edited) All this talk of icecream has made me feel hungry, so here's this month's photo of John with a pie. This pie was found on its own, wandering around in Warwickshire looking for a friend. Luckily, on our way down to Melksham show, John found it and gave it a good home. For those interested in the pie (Pete), it was a chicken one. Also, at the same pub, we stumbled upon the world's biggest chip.... gordon s
Well I'm only two years late joining the party. How on earth did I miss this gem? So far I've only taken in the beautiful buildings in the first few pages, so an enjoyable day's reading ahead. Some really superb modelling....

GWR-Fanatic
I believe the box was opened in about 1908 to replace the old CMR one...... very definately GWR I put my hands up and say that I stand corrected, and am most happy to be so. I'm sure you will be but, in the meantime, have a look at signalbox.org Nick I definitely stand corrected, but it's a learning curve I welcome. (website added to favourites). returning to the original main topic, I will say that I definitely look forward to seeing finished article.

By the way Gordon is another dyed in the wool LNER guy like me.......My Grandmother used to dangle me over a bridge in the Seven Sister's Road area to watch Mallard go past...I was two at the time.** Best, Pete. ** They were all "Mallard" to her. trisonic
Looks like a jewel, very nice. The only jarring note for me (forgive me) is the shadow of the chimney on the backscene - have you tried playing around with the lighting fixture above that? No wonder El Gringo is looking better! Is that a Chicken Pot Pie? You can actually get those over here - unfortunately I only like Chicken roasted... Best, Pete. RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted April 14, 2012 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2012 Yes the chimney needs a small lamp at the rear to remove the shadow. It's something we've already thought about. I'm going to give up trying to post photos as I can't get them to attach today....

BlackRat
Also, at the same pub, we stumbled upon the world's biggest chip. When does a chip become a wedge? Or is that a coarse scale chip? We could have a great debate re finescale v coarse scale chips etc! Mind you, it looks a mighty fine pie, says him the pie eating...............
