Hi Al.

Can I ask where you got the inter-city swallow transfers for your Dapol 08?

I've recently got one at a good price and was thinking of doing 08570 like yourself but I can't find anyone who does those transfers.

Cheers.

Ken

I got the transfers second hand! Mate was going to do it from an early one but never got round to it then I picked up the IC one cheap. I am however pretty sure Steve at Railtec did them so might be worth dropping him a line. They certainly looked like his transfers when I did it.

Hopefully it wasn't just me who had an accident this week with Hattons O gauge sale. I have been thinking about picking up a RR 37/4 for a while to do as 37427 but had been putting it off. Seems other than Hattons they're getting a bit scarce. So as I doubt Heljan will be in a rush to re-run these I figured I had best bite the bullet.

It has already started to go through the works. That horrible bracket that the ETH jumper is fitted to has been removed and a couple of smaller brackets knocked up out of platicard, WR lamp brackets fitted, then the noses re-painted to get rid of the mascara around the marker lights. Cant rail stripes around the bonnet touched in with black (427's only went over the cab), most of the buffer beam detail fitted and transferred up.

Multi jumpers will have the cable replaced with wire then both these and the ETH jumpers will be re-fitted.  Also needs some blue stars before satin varnish and fitting of nameplates. I have a sound chip kicking around earmarked for a 37/0, but it can go into this and get re-blown at some point, it will do for now so it'll be off to Cam for sound fitting this week.

This morning's little job. 37427 is intended to be a fairly quick job so rather than buy another sound chip I have robbed the 37/0 chip I had rucked away, but the loco for this is a more long term project. Not the tidiest but its done. Just need to finish a couple of bits on the body and put it all back together, then it will want weathering.

Hi,

That looks superb, I have 37425, love the RR livery on the 37,s & 31’s. Must get around to putting all the detailing on the buffer beam.
Heljan say the WR lamp brackets are included as spares I cannot find them.

How did you do yours please.

Cheers

Julian.

They should be but they don't actually provide them in the 37/4's, but you do get frost grills which aren't required. These were robbed off a centre panel 37/0 I have in stock that may or may not require them! I think I have another set kicking around should I need them. With 425 you shouldn't need them. It only has the single lamp bracket above the right had tail light on both ends.

I've always liked the RR livery and couldn't decide weather to go for this one or not when they came out. Oh well succumbed now.

Thanks for that, selecting 425 I had to check its correct bracket arrangement. In the booklet they provide it states they are included, which obviously is an error on their part. If they did it opens up a selection of locos to choose from.

Always, without fail work from prototype pictures particularly for loco's. I've nearly balls'd things up or actually done it that many times by 'assuming' what I thought was right only to look at pictures later and find I was imagining it or missing things entirely!

Again little progress but I have managed to get a couple of Paul's Railease POA's in primer and painted the internal box. Now drying in the garage with the first coats of yellow on. Hopefully I can get these two sorted this week along with the full write up, another two close behind, just needing Handbrake leavers but I need to modify them.

Nearly a month without an update! Well I have finally finished two of Paul Rolley's Railease POA/SSA kits with another two nearly finished. Write up is here if anyone fancies a read.

And the next two on their way:

There will be another write up before too long for Paul's PXA/KEA now that transfers are available and I should have an update on another project tomorrow. I have actually found some motivation today so an old project has returned to the WB and is progressing again finally!

Well I promised an update on another project yesterday so here goes. Last year I started putting together an Intercity Land Cruise set of MK1's. I got one FO to a point where the body was pretty much done as was most of the underframe then sort of lost my way a little. I had also put most most of the bogies together. I have realised this evening that I have not fitted the axle boxes to them all so I'll have to rectify that. Well this weekend they have come back on the WB and I have made some not insignificant progress, most windows had been fitted to a second FO, the RBR and BFK but I hadn't done the toilet windows (this needed the vent soldering on). So windows finished, ends modified and the bodies built up on the second FO, RBR & BFK. Holes have also been drilled out on all the roof parts for the vents which I'll cut out and fit this week. Next job is to get the third FO to this position. Basic underframe is done so its just a case of bodysides, windows and ends to do.

As a general rule most cheap Chinese figures look pretty rubbish and under scale, I did invest in a pack a while back and they'll be OK for filling busses/coaches but anything that is visible I'd give a miss and invest in more bespoke figures from the various supplier we have here. Having said that I spotted this set of figures on ebay last week while looking for something else, for just over 12 quid I thought what the hell, worth a punt. Well, I am rather happy with them, the handle for the jack was too short (I have extended this with a piece of 2mm rod) but with a few touch ups here and there I think they will look the part (Note car not included!!!).

Not a lot brewing, there will be a wagon update soon, hopefully over the weekend. However a modelshop/credit card interface type accident happened the other week and now we have another gronk to add to the stable:

Paul, they not fixed in yet, there will be some gap I am sure. I think if I was to do any more I' build the bodies separate from the chassis as I am doing with my 101 DMU.

Cam has had 08570 & 37427 in for some dirt, the 37 only very lightly but the 08 more work stained:

The other week someone posted some platform trollies on one of the FB groups, order duly placed and received. I then had to go and see Steve at Railtec to collect some items had left with him to produce transfers for the big IWA Ferrywagons so I popped a trolley in his palm and said can you do anything with this?
