Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. Welcome to Diddy Yard, my new project to keep me entertained until I get better from illness. It's 30cm x 25cm and built on a grocery box from the £1 shop, the top being ply wood these are ideal. It's just a bit of fun and depicts a very small yard a coal siding, provender store siding and a siding with a crane, operationally it's not brilliant but can ( just ) be used as a 2-1-1 inglenook. The buildings I got free with magazines and the crane is a wills kit which I raised of the ground by using a milk carton top wrapped in brick paper and the top painted to represent concrete / stone, the coal staithes are peco. Here is a couple of photos of the layout: Track Laid. Helicopter View. One more. The tree will be replaced with a better one. Next job is ballasting and I will get some wills cobblestones. More Soon. Jerry.

Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I don't mind anyone borrowing the idea, in fact a grocery box challenge sounds like fun, of course I already have my entry lol. Jerry. They are pretty good, only cost a pound too.
cklammer
Maybe even a grocery box module standard ? This one looks very nice: visually appealing with a nice sense of proportion.
luke the train spotter
It does look like a good size. Plenty of opportunities to run short wheel based stock on it to.

Booking Hall
Good to see you back Jerry. This looks really good, and I think the curves you have introduced make it 'stand out' and look much more interesting.

Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I've done some more work to the layout, done a bit more ballasting, added a fence along the back of the yard and a bit a clutter on the provender store. Here are a couple of photos: From the fiddle yard end. Looking along the layout. I will try and take some better photos for next time. More soon. Jerry.
1722
REally like the fiddle yard end photo. Excellent!
cklammer
Jerry, This is really nice .. and manageable to build. Now you can go and build the FY segment and scenick it ... and then the next scenic FY segment with an industry and maybe .. and ... and ... and ... and ... and after you are finished you have a layout with a 30-feet-run Best Regards, Christian
sb67
Great stuff Jerry, glad to see you're back building something. Steve.
Jerry1975
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have been thinking of extending the layout with another box/es and including a halt station but that's for later. I'm going to do a bit more later, put some coal in the bunkers and sort out a back scene. More soon. Jerry.

Guest ShildonShunter
Fantastic modelling Jerry the attention to detail is spot on is the crane by Wills as its like the one I have just finished building just needs painting and weathering.
Jerry1975
Thanks, very kind of you to say so. Yes, the crane is a wills kit, the base it's sitting on is a milk carton top painted to look like concrete and some spare brick paper wrapped round from a Metcalfe kit plus some weeds. I will post an update soon as I have done some more work. I tried to get another grocery box to make an extension but my local Poundland hasn't got any :-( More soon.
