ian@60
On opening the box the etching look fine with the chassis and valve gear in nickle silver and the rest in brass, With the boiler smoke box and cab roof pre rolled for you, Plus the usual white metal and lost wax brass casting But some casting has seen better days the dome is salvageable the chimney I might look else where. ian@60
The Instructions I was told read read and read again but some of it looks like a cure for insomnia but he do's supply re written instructions for the B2 with useful instructions for the valve gear to be fair the did say he has to re write the instructions , but like most peoples it's time to get round to do it. N15class
Looks an interesting project. I have not built a DMR kit so I have no idea what they are like. Have though seen some nice models made from them.

pwr
I built the B2 which came out OK but I had to widen the cylinder block etch because it was too narrow and the whole thing would have locked up. It needed another 2mm to it. The reason for this is that the B2 was drawn for 4mm and enlarged. I did write to them and in fairness they supplied some of the B17 chassis etches to help out for free. The B17 was drawn at a 10mm scale and reduced so it's a better chassis all round. I am sure this will build up well and look forward to seeing it progress. jwealleans
Was there not a build and review of this kit in the Guild Gazette which caused some controversy? I'm not a member (or even a 7mm modeller) but I recall being loaned it it to read. There might be some useful information for the OP in there. John K
Was there not a build and review of this kit in the Guild Gazette which caused some controversy? I'm not a member (or even a 7mm modeller) but I recall being loaned it it to read. There might be some useful information for the OP in there. There was a review in the Gazette which was overly critical of the kit. IMHO the review wasn't very helpful at all. An unedited pre-Gazette version of the review is available on the author's own website here: http://www.raymondwalley.com/loco/other/b17.html Do not let this review colour your view. I have built this kit and so have several people I know. It's a good kit (with pretty naff instructions for the loco). Steamport Southport
I'll be following with interest as I'm tempted by a 4mm version of the B2. Jason
