You do realise that there's a video playing at the top of your thread with a most impressive BR themed layout on it?

Then they show us the bus on the bridge....

Is that the distant sound of a "Jericho trumpet "?

Thank god there's that ripple showing there is a currant.

I think that it might actually be a sultana, hard to tell below 7mm scale...

Having had success with the CC2 Tool Van I've been working in the background on another wagon a CC7 Signal Van

Drawings are now done so the next step will be the printing

I’m also working on grounded version as an addition to the layout…

It's looking really good Chris and I think that making use of a slightly tweaked test print for a workshop is a neat use of the surplus bits.

There's been a fair bit of discussion about commercial prints over on ANTB amongst @gwrrob, @Harlequin, @57xx, @The Fatadder and others, so I gave you a bit of shameless promotion (and my dubious painting skills!) for your attention to detail in the form of this picture:

PS, you were right about that door handle, not a chance of doing it so neatly any other way.😎

While the CC7 is printing (second attempt after noticing a few bits that could be better)

I’ve done a bit on the grounded version, this is the second attempt because I broke the first one forgetting how fragile resin prints are so I used this opportunity to put something useful on inside wall you can’t see (yet to be revealed)

As you’ll be able to see inside I’ve removed the ribs from the walls

I’ve painted the floor and also drawn/printed a stove (loosely based on a GWR brake van stove)

The lamp irons are half printed and half cut down staple

The sleepers have also been painted/weathered

I’ve mounted the ‘sleepers’ on 0.5mm plasticard that I can eventually glue onto the baseboard and ballast over before gluing the van in place (in theory)

Those dusty old floorboards are particularly convincing. Almost a shame to put the roof on!

Thanks, it was a happy accident.

I painted it with Vallejo ‘cement’ and then used a brown wash but it was too dark so I wiped most of it off and with a stiff brush used dark earth weathering powder on the still wet wash brushing along the length of the boards

Probably never be able to replicate it as it was done in a panic

The dust effect is either because I put too heavy a coat of Matt varnish over the top and it’s bloomed or it’s real dust 😂

Just applied a coat of primer while the sun is shining

Didn't have to wait long for the filler to cure as I use Holts automotive Knifing Putty* and if applied thinly it goes off in 20 minutes

I do have airbrush primer but I still find automotive aerosol plastic primer* a better option, especially when it comes to adhesion

*a shame my local Halfrauds closed permanently after lockdown, luckily I can get similar next day from Amazon

Anyway, coat of primer

The lamp irons have turned out remarkably well

not bad for a cut down staple glued into a rectangular hole

That looks a bit good does that. One for the realistic modelling thread when you have completed the scene!

Superb Model - wonderful blend of: "... accumulating personal knowledge bases, e-draughtsmanship and resin based material engineering." (Taken from a job advert for a prototyping technician.) I wouldn't be surprised if I heard Rapido were beating a trail towards you front door. Bravo.

I wouldn't make it too pristine!

There’s no danger of that with my brush painting 🤣

It does look better after a few more coats…

…I’ve found decanting a small amount into a little pot and adding a few drops of thinner helps to reduce the brush stroke marks, it also helps each cost dry much quicker

There is an etched brass Falcon Brass kit for these wagons up on ebay at the moment.

Regards Lez.

do you have a link? I’d be interested to see what it comprises of

I’m sure my kit is far easier to put together though having only four parts
