First up a rake of Airfix Centenaries - new destination boards, screw-link couplings, numbers & corridor connectors (the existing ones were also shortened).

 

 

 

 

 

And then there's the Russian Tank - Hobby Bosses 1/48th KV-1 in very worn Winter Camo.

So a fortnight is a fairly short break without updates (yes there's been sneak peaks elsewhere on here).

 

After 14 years, my temporary workbenches in the dining room and loft are in the process of either being decommissioned or mothballed. The New Works is finally up and running..

 

 

 

 

 

Before I moved in, there were a couple of projects to finish...

 

Tamiya's 1/48th Scale Crusader Mk.I

 

 

 

 

 

And a Corgi Trackside GWR Drag Shovel..

 

 

 

 

So what's the first project in the new Works (she's already made a sneaky cameo).

 

 

HMCS Snowberry of course, no works been done on her since January last year.

 

 

 

 

 

Yep that's the rigging done, I was dreading that when I took on the commission to build her 3 years ago  - thank god for E-Z Line.

Meanwhile there's railway kit building going on the bench...

 

A Hobbytime Mink F

 

 

 

Enjoyable, but very time consuming kit - so many parts, but the instructions are clear and precise.

 

The K's Siphon F breed program..

 

First one was brought as a built kit, but needed the roof refitting, new buffers and a repaint.

 

 

 

 

The second Siphon F was brought as a kit, minus buffers & bogies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bogies are Shapeways, wheels are Bachmann, Buffers are Lanarkshire Models, vac pipes are Hornby and lamp brackets are Rexel No.56 staples.

Mink F

 

All painted (I gave it a gloss clear coat this evening) and ready for decals.

 

 

Siphon F's 1 & 2 are awaiting decals.

 

Siphon F number 3 is currently primed and in paint.

 

 

Another K's kit and a 3rd build of the 40' Passenger Luggage Van, bogies still to be assembled and mods made to get the roof to fit.

 

 

Unlike the previous two I've built - this will be in chocolate & cream livery.

 

Bullion Van

 

I've finally got to a point where this is almost ready to paint - just lamp brackets and screw links (and large amount of lead) to add.

 

 

The 3-D prints need to be much finer, before I attempt another complete 3-D print build.

 

A brief intermission while the paints and glue's cure - a quick Easter Build.

 

Tamiya's 1/35th Scale Churchill Mk.VII. The tooling's from 1977, however it goes together easily.

 

 

This is the later rebox, which comes with the newer rubber band style tracks that can be glued using TET (Tamiya Extra Thin) and take paint easily.

 

First 1/35th Scale kit I've built too.

Another busy week on the bench, so time for another update.

 

The Churchill is ready for weathering..

 

 

The Mink F is finished..

 

 

 

As is an M7 - first one on the bench for 6 years, needed a number of repairs for the client, plus weathering and dcc chipping.

 

 

 

M17 Bullion Van finally got this one painted, though it became apparent it was sitting far to high on the bogies.

 

 

After smaller diameter set of wheels and some surgery with a junior hacksaw - it's now sitting a scale foot lower..

 

 

It has been decalled today, alas no photo yet  

 

Siphon F number 3

 

All painted and is currently in the queue for decalling..

 

 

40' Passenger Brake.

 

This is all primed, next job will be paint.

 

 

I should have another update in a few days.

A bit late, but another update.

 

There's been a lot of admin work this week, however I have got some work done - mainly involving brass & solder..

 

With the interior painted, glazed & the Dia. AA6 Permanent Way van ballasted, I soldered the roof on.

 

 

Hopefully at some point this week, I'll get it into primer.

 

I also started another brass kit, in this case the Brassmasters GWR Match Truck.

 

 

 

It's just as fiddly as the Frogmore kit - especially those rollers.

 

I decided to take a break and build something far more straight forward..

 

 

Somewhere between a Seafire F/FR Mk.47 and an Attacker F1...

The were certainly a halfway house between the Spitfire/Seafire and the Attacker..

Oops where did the time go - well most of it went sitting on the loo (nasty stomach bug).

 

Consequently I had to take things easy, but I managed to get some things done.

 

Seafang, this is finished, not helped by Trumpeter's incorrect scale and googly eyed roundels (fortunately I had spares) - first Aircraft kit finished this year.

 

 

 

I also resumed work on a kit I hadn't worked on since May last year..

 

 

Yes that is a Westland Whirlwind.

 

I also started another Warbird, but I'm not going to tell you what it is...

 

 

And no it isn't a P-47D Thunderbolt  

 

I've been doing some Railway work, the match truck is on hold temporarily and the AA6 is now in primer to see where clean up is needed.

 

However I finally completed one of my personal projects - another Star with Castle elbow steam pipes..

 

 

 

And finished building a Cambrian Loriot W which a client had started - this will go into paint this week.

 

 

I will get a blog entry up for the Seafang this week at some point and possibly another update.
