Yes they did a 100hp version. That had a 6 speed transmission (over the standard 5 gears). Also had 7 spoke alloys & foglights.

Unfortunately that spec fetches a hefty premium along with the 4x4 versions!

I would think the 4X4 version would (could) become a bit of a classic, and quite useful.

I hope your investment proves fruitful :good:

Something that's just popped into my head, at what point does a car transition from this thread to "For those interested in old cars"?

Speaking of Pandas 'HubNut' reviewer of shabby old cars on YouTube did a Panda a few weeks ago making it the first of his videos about a car I've bought new.

So 1969 is a Modern Classic? ;)

Common rail fuel injection, then?

Probably impossible to define a firm border but, as a starting point, I'd personally not regard anything introduced pre-1990 as "modern". I think it may be one of those things you know when you see it.....

doilum's suggestion of the presence/absence of an ECU sounded promising, but what about the SAAB 99 EMS?

Which is pretty much what the first post in the thread suggested...

Gutted, the cat has gone on the red petrol mini, thought it was the centre pipe but once undone discovered it was the cat, unfortunately it’s a custom built one I had fabricated after I fitted the janspeed manifold and milltek exhaust, only been on 12 months but it was made using a used OEM mini cat, a chance you take using used parts really

ive had to buy another used cat, this time a janspeed sport cat which don’t have particularly good reviews but it’s cost 1/3 of the price of having another custom one made up, if I get 12 months out of it then I’ll be happy, May not actually have the car in 12 months anyway as I’ve only done 4K miles in 12 months in it so may well sell it on and use the diesel instead

Walking round the village this afternoon spotted this very very shiny Golf Mk 1 softop, OK it was quite warm today but plenty of road salt about still. Anyway, it looked immaculate.

edit: Rover 800 lurking behind it as well.

Cup holders. Airbags and factory fitted music. The mk 1&2 Escort are "classic", the mk 3 is "modern". I know only the final mk 7 got the airbags.

*cough* This is from my secret stash and not really supposed for public viewing, but since the boss is sending out internal eyes only drawings pointing out bugs for quotes I guess it's fair...

Brand new Mk1 with (what will be) inbuilt audio. This is the prototype console which went with the ugly DIN cage, it will eventually me bracket mounted behind the console for a sleek modern finish. It's also getting electric parking brake. The Mk2 is getting Blutooth only completely hidden stereo since there isn't room in the console for head unit and gauges.

Came across this little beauty today on one of my deliverys

20220202_135935.jpg

We had exactly the same model for four years until some scrot nicked it from Wickford Station car park, apparently waving at the CCTV camera on the way out!

Mrs BB was going to keep it forever she said, we bought it at 2 years old from a lady first officer on tankers it had about 1500 miles on it and the plenum chamber was full of leaves from where she parked it on her drive.

It was actually a nice car to drive, better than the Mk1 XR2 we had.

Broken spring on the diesel mini, luckily I had a set of coilovers in the garage waiting to be fitted so today was the day, as well as new front brakes

broken spring, basically dropped off the perch, unfortunately it’s snapped the ABS sensor wire so I’ll have to get one of those and replace it

the other mini failed it’s MOT today on emissions, I had to replace the cat the other week anyway but the ‘new’ one being a sports cat obviously doesn’t do the job, I may have to put a standard manifold back on it for the test!

Do sports cats not work Jim? I was thinking of putting them on the F and the coupe if them two have those valuable cats fitted

Well I thought they did!

the tester has suggested I put some 99 Ron in the car as it’s currently got 95 Ron in as that’s all the petrol station had the other night, im going to do that and give it a ‘damn good thrashing’ to paraphrase basil fawlty and see if they can get it though after that

the custom cat I had made at 1320 mini killed itself the other month, the catalist part came loose from the resonator so I was forced to get a cheap quick fix in the shape of a used janspeed cat that cost me 1/4 of what getting another 1320 tomcat would have cost, probaly a false economy now really if I can’t get it through tomorrow!
