Even these won't get it up far enough or for long enough.

There's been a lot of swearing at this end whilst photographing it for review with that, the couplings and internal lighting.

Have Hornby actually provided a review sample?

Harsh, its not a bad model

No but quite a few puzzling design choices and some poor assembly and too many faulty capacitors.
I was chatting to a shop owner this morning who has had returns waiting over a month with Hornby and the rep had others waiting over two months with W1’s so far.
Hornby is not doing a good job overall and making life very hard for retailers on sales and repairs.
Fortunately for them it’s good enough if you get a good one but hardly leading the field. It’s a good model let down by a merely adequate execution of the mechanism and electrics.

I think it's a little closer to the target, in the red.

I wouldn't say it is. With a lesser model I'd just accept 'it is what it is' but the frustration with this is 'it isn't what it could have been'. A good shape and decoration isn't enough these days, it could have been a flagship hero product; but it isn't.

Andy, but criticism of a review that hasn’t yet been published yet cannot be argued against…..really it can’t.

but on the otherhand how can criticism of an unknown have any value at all. It would be like my recomendation of a hotel I have not been to on TrustPilot.
