1977joey
Hi Everyone, The summer Saturday timetable is well & truly in full swing at Shrewford. 37426 & 37254 are seen ticking over at the signal at the south end of Platform 3 waiting to take over the 1241 Saturdays only InterCity to Aberystwyth The 1230 to Wolverhampton (Ex Aberystwyth) arrives at Platform 5 formed of a 5 car Class 150 Sprinter The 1222 'Y Cymro' to Cardiff Central (Ex Holyhead) approaches Platform 7 with a Transpennine Mark 2 rake behind it & comes to a stand Next the 1241 To Aberystwyth makes an appearance behind 47535 which would have bought the train forward from Wolverhampton And approaches Platform 4 As the Cardiff train departs, 37426 & 37254 wait at the calling on signal to back onto the stock of the 'Aber' As the shunter is seen ready to couple up the 37's After a break test, the 1241 to Aberystwyth makes it's departure Cheers for now, Mark

Melangoose
Hi Mark, I looked at my copy of this DVD this evening and the Spotlight on Shrewsbury reminded me of your Shrewford layout (which I know is inspiration). Class 37 on loco hauled, Cawoods empties, Scrap and Loaded Steel, Class 108, 150’s, Blue 31 on a Parcel, Large Logo 47 on a Euston train and a Steam Charter are all featured. Just Wondered if it was in your library.

Would be interested to see that for sure I've not ran anything on the layout for a while due to loss of mojo & life events but hoping to back into it soon. Best regards, Mark

I am sure that you will get back into it when the time is right. 1
1977joey
Hi Everyone, Well Happy Boxing day! Time for a small update here at Shrewford & that's to show the latest addition being 47628 'Sir Daniel Gooch' Here it is pulling into Platform 7 & then on departure on a Shrewford to London Euston InterCity service, which it will haul as far as Wolverhampton, where it will give way to an AC Electric.. Cheers for now, and if I'm not on here before, I wish everyone a Happy & Prosperous 2024! Mark
Chris M
Nice to see Sir Daniel on duty, looks good. It makes a nice change to all the banger blue and is very smart. I was tempted to get one of these for my 1980s set and very nearly ordered one this morning but I resisted. Instead I’ve ordered some filthy JIAs to provide a current day clay service to Stoke. Next job is to order a Revolution 66 in DB red.

Same here, I was tempted but would have preferred it in the early GWR 150 days without the cab aerials which were added some time during 1988 I think. Would have been more tempted by 47484, but the tooling can't do the odd cab fronts apparently.... Does look nice on the layout though....

1977joey
Hi Everyone, 47628 gets to stretch her legs again on this mornings 1116 service to Bangor Gwynedd (Ex Cardiff) & is seen approaching Platform 3 with an Edge Hill based TransPennine rake in tow Then pulling into Platform 7 running slightly late off Shrewford North Yard, 47612 brings in the empty stock to form the 1121 InterCity to London Euston A Couple of views over the busy station during this half hour A couple of 20's then appear on a petroleum train bound for Stanlow & arrive on the up & down goods for a Crew change Cheers for now, Mark
1977joey
Hi everyone. I apologise for the lack of posts lately. My mum hasn't been too well & doesn't suffer the best of health with very poor mobility. So as well as working shifts & doing my bit to help out, I've had very little time to to bother with the layout. Anyway, its my long weekend & finally a bit of time to myself last night so I thought I'd uncover Shrewford & clean the track. Some of the loco's & units haven't been run for months so at some stage, they'll all need a good running in. Last night, I ran it for an hour to the Monday to Friday winter timetable which I created (with some tweaks) from old BR timetables at the real Shrewsbury. First up 37428 is waiting to be released from the holding sidings to be attached to the Euston to Aberystwyth service once it has arrived & the First Class & buffet car has been detached Next A Class 150/2 Sprinter arrives at 1812 into Platform 7b From Chester to Terminate here. This then forms the 1819 Shrewford to Bangor service It then departs right time at 1819 to Bangor Next 47436 approaches Platform 4 with the 1847 InterCity to Aberystwyth (The Cambrian Coast Express) then after being detached for the run round, 47436 is coupled to the other end of the train to take the First Class & Buffet back to Wolverhampton And then departs 37428 'David Lloyd George' is then coupled to the 5 standard Class coaches running through to Aberystwyth ready for it's 1847 departure Next running a bit late is the 1838 to Cardiff (Ex Liverpool) which arrives at Platform 7 with 47403 'The Geordie' in charge And is regulated to depart before the 'Aber' Then running slightly late waiting for the Cardiff to clear, 37428 makes it's departure from Shrewford bound for Aberystwyth Cheers for now, Mark 15 1
Popular Post 1977joey
Hi Everyone, A couple from earlier down at Shrewford sees Tyseley's shortage of DMU's resulting in a loco hauled diagram on the semi-fast Shrewford to Birmingham New street service which is ticking over at Platform 5 with 47403 in charge Then passengers on Platform 6 are getting anxious for the guard of 'Sprinter' 150127 to release the doors so they can board & get a decent seat for the run to Aberystwyth which this unit is bound for & finally a couple of Class 121's are on the Crewe local service at Platform 7b Cheers for now, Mark 19
TT100 Diesels
Lovely work, the low down shots through the platform 'clutter' really pop. Brings the whole thing to life for me. Very nice indeed. Cheers TT100 Diesels. 3
scruff
Superb Mark. I was hoping they'd stick the grey 31 on it for the return, but hey, you can't win 'em all! Looks like I'll have to slum it with one of Gateshead's generators.. oh the shame! Seriously, an absolutely cracking layout and the back story just makes it for me.. Cheers Mark

woodenhead
@1977joey Have you ever considered video of the layout, it might be nice to see the trains moving. You can simply upload to YouTube and share on here.

I could do with investing in a proper tripod to film the layout, however there are a couple of video's on youtube of the layout if you search 'Shrewford' on there. There's also one that was edited by the guys for the N gauge virtual show back in 2021. The quality is not brilliant unfortunately due to me trying to hold the phone steady & the actual phone I had at the time. Maybe in the future I'll get round to doing a far better version. I'll be honest with working shifts & also doing some caring for my mum who's health has not been good of late, I don't have much chance to run the layout much & my mojo comes & goes...
