Gordon of Khartoum?

No, Gordon my Gopher.

A very able modeller who gave up 7mm scale to concentrate of rebuilding a For Pop.

He brought around some welding kit for me this morning that he no longer needs.

I now need to learn how to use it properly.

Well what a disappointment today has been.

As regular readers of my dribble will recall I have been exercising my carpentry skills. So you can imagine my delight when HH said that he would be able to plane timber using his new planester. Right I thought that's just the thing and grabbing my unplaned pieces of timber I placed them in my panniers and set off to Hipposhire.

Well I arrived at HH's establishment, Planing Hippo's only to be greeted by an 'elderly' gentleman - i use that term advisory, in overalls that had seen better days. I asked if HH was around as I wanted some planing done. The man grunted something about playing choo choos with some mate. Well least ways that's what I thought he said. I don't follow local dialects and Hipposhire is quite a hard to follow.

Anyway I said I would get the timber from my panniers. I which point he said I'm not having anything to do with panniers and grabbing what appeared to be a pink tutu and marched off.

So there we have it. I've been left high and dry timber unplaned and unable to complete my wood work.

Therefore I must caution anyone thinking of using this service. Do not mention panniers.

Is it just me or is page 1760 a duplicate of 1759?

Dave

Sometimes the forum behaves in a "quirky" manner.

This morning I had some notifications that, when selected, took me to a place where I had apparently made no posts, though obviously kind members had felt moved to select an expression...

Oh well!

Ah, it seems to have settled down now and the previous duplication has stopped but for a while the two pages were duplicates.

Dave

It seems to happen from time to time - I've had it in both my photo thread and Early Risers

Off for the joys of another round of SLT at the ophthalmic department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital this morning.

Whilst I am being seen, Nyda can go shopping:  It's more effective use of time as she doesn't then just have to sit in the carpark, or pay the car parking fee, which can build up rather quickly.

As for the other ether or aether, I studied for A level physics from 1969 to 1971. Our A level text books were so old they had chapters on the propagation of light through the aether. We were told to ignore those chapters.

I was thinking more along actually fixing a metal one on with a very stiff tip.

Would that be planed or unplaned.

Asking for a friend- yes I know but I do have some just not that many.

I would hesitate to use a a welder with timber, or try to machine down steel bar with a wood thicknesser.

So unplaned then. That's all you had to say HH. You don't have to go into the technical guff I'll accept your word.

He posted a picture of his helmet a few days ago. It didn't look dented.

But it had a camo cover on it, ideal for hiding dents...

As a retired Army Gentleman, do you enjoy a good cigar with your port?

If so, I would suggest a metal digital prothesis with a built in cigar lighter. Most handy!

Should further workshop accidents of a similar nature occur, you could add a cigar cutter to your digital collection.
