she probably wouldn't notice.

I was really surprised that while Aditi was away looking after her Mum for a week I replaced the 40” television with a 55”. It wasn’t until she went upstairs and noticed the 40 inch Sony in the guest bedroom (I had put it out of the way) that she suspected something was different. It was odd because she is normally a very observant person who notices slight changes. She must have been sitting in the lounge for a a couple of hours and hadn’t noticed.

That would be quite possible here as it would be from magnolia to magnolia.

Ah but wouldn't the smell of fresh paint give it away.

A strategic small spill of paint might be helpful?

Probably, or the painting implements soaking in the sink. I did joke when Aditi was still working that the reason I used a particular brand of furniture polish was so that she would know I hadn’t been idly  sitting around all day.

It was similar but one wall did change from yellow to green.

Green isn’t likely to appear here after the unfortunate incident of green paint about 40 years ago. Aditi decided the wall in our bathroom of our first home would look nice in dark green. It wasn’t my choice but I painted it. After I finished it, I could tell that Aditi didn’t like it. After a few days of trying to get used to it, she wondered if it could be painted white. It took quite a few coats to cover and I always thought there was a hint of green about it. There have been no paint colour experiments here.

When I had my retina re-attached, it produced a cataract. I also had a little bit from a laser in the other eye. The one eye had cataract surgery and the colours are bright, but there is a fold (or something) in the retina and everything is wavy. I now look at the carpet and the one eye thinks it's beige while the other calls it ecru.

(signed) He who stares down lasers with both eyes.

And happy pi day for Thursday.

Mrs SM42 didn't notice the kitchen had changed colour when she returned from a short trip to the motherland.

After a couple of days I asked if she'd noticed anything.

Eventually the penny dropped.

I have it on good authority that the young Bear has given up cakes for Lent.

So now the truth will out!

Over on the companion thread to TNM (ERs) The Bear has been bragging about how virtuous he has become, informing everyone and anyone that he has “given up” curly fries, pizza and cake in favour of healthy vegetables multiple times a day  (I believe Broccoli may even have been mentioned at one point).

Now, in an incautious moment, he lets slip that the “Virtuous Bear” was naught but a facade.

I won’t comment beyond asking the TNMs “would you leave cake alone in a room with that Bear?”

Not even a 5-Grass smoothie from a herbal drinks emporium?

Given my usual diet, you’d think I’d be partial to that but that sounds more like a bit of a right on, lefty, desert boot  wearing concoction to exploit the vacuously trendy, orange skinned, fish lipped,  lycra gym clad, self-promoting, out to be seen, social media frequenting, fashionistas.

So, no.

I’m not “grassing him up” to use that colourful expression.

As a health professional I was simply pointing out the lengths some individuals will go to in order to deny that they have a cake addiction problem.

Far from “grassing him up” I was - in fact - virtuously pointing out the public health implications of such behaviour.

Now, if I really wanted to “Grass” on someone, boy could I tell you a story or two about HH, Polish Andy, Bbishop and Winslow Boy (amongst others).

But I won’t.

Another thought occurs to me, even if I were inclined to do so there’d be no need to. The Bear manages to perfectly adequately “grass” on himself.

Even the most desultory reading of his recent posts would evidence numerous discrepancies between words and actions.

It definitely sounds like you do have something to hide.

”Grassing someone up” is very much an expression used by the criminal classes.
