We got one of those. It was highly entertaining until the cats and dogs got used to it, but it was utterly useless as a vacuum cleaner. It couldn't really cope with meeting rugs either.

Ours works Ok most of the time (does not like undone shoe laces so the shoes have to be moved off the floor) but every so often the floor does require Henry to go over it. Not had the opportunity to see how the cat reacts to Henry but the cat isn't scared off by the lawnmover.

A robotic lawnmower might be a better bet than the iRobot vacuum, we've got that much cat and dog hair!

We have to keep the door into the garden closed otherwise he will do this and some mornings he's bolted in through the door as I open it to head to the shed. Last time he went straight upstairs and jumped onto my other half who was asleep in bed. He soon moved off the sofa whrn my other half got the ironing board out. One of mine spends most of his time with my next door neighbour. He comes in for food first thing, then back out to their doorstep to be let in there. My neighbour's daughter is autistic and they seem to have a certain affinity with each other. It's handy, as they will give him his morning food and meds while I am away. My other will go in there, but not often, unless I am away.

Foolish cat. Any sensible cat knows the time to stretch out on the ironing board is immediately after the ironing has been done, while the board is still warm. Or even between items being ironed, on the "locus of attention" principle. Edited October 13, 2023 by Compound2632 4
eastglosmog
Far better to go to sleep on the pile of unironed laundry, transferring to the ironed pile when it is big enough.

We use a steam press rather than a con=vention iron and inroing board - a hot hinged plate that comes down onto whatever might be sitting on the lower plate. I haven't heard any feline squeals of pain yet but I suppose it might an idea to watch what we're pressing! 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post Oldddudders Posted October 15, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 15, 2023 Perry, less than a year old, had scrambled up onto la terrasse roof, but had no idea how to get down. I had to walk the 30' to the other end, encouraging him, and he knows from there he can get onto the other roof and down. 11 3

RMweb Gold Popular Post slow8dirty Posted October 15, 2023 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted October 15, 2023 A heart wrenchingly short time has passed since our Smudge was killed on the road, microchipping and a wonderful person stopping and taking him to the local vet meant we found out immediately with no agonising search and wondering. A fabulous character that was a bit of a living landmark to all that walked past regularly.Lots of happy memories, the local bird population will not miss him as much😉 And then out of the blue, with us saying never again, the moons align and this little vandal crashes into our lives. Say hi to the folks on RMweb Dexter. Not had the best of starts in life but has just realised the new servants might not be all that bad. 7 4

The garage is set into the.rising garden so that the roof at the far end is almost at shoulder height. How she got onto the roof will always be a mystery. ..

Cats can teleport, proven by the cat that was asleep upstairs being in the kitchen asking for food when you get downstairs despite never having gone past you as you walked down the stairs. RMweb Premium J. S. Bach Posted October 16, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 16, 2023 I guess that I am lucky, no inside stairs and Raindrop is not let out (steps to get off of the porches). 12

Popular Post JZ
This is Kitt. First is on the day I got him. As you can see, he was a handful then. As he grew, he would sneak into the railway shed if the door was left open and his usual spot was between the platforms. Usually he was very careful, but as can be seen, he has already damaged a fence. He was banished completely when he seriously damaged a bridge I spent hours scratch building. Just turned 13 the other day. 22 1

Popular Post JZ
This is Slippers. One of a pair of sisters I had. Unfortunately she passed away after a stroke at 6 years old. Kitt came 5 months later as her replacement. The others sister Socs. She didn't get on too well with Kitt to begin with, despite his best efforts, he was quite social at first, having come from a house full of cats and German Shepherds. In Socs later years, Kitt would goad her a bit, but she was quite mild mannered. Later she tolerated him. She passed away 5 years after her sister with kidney failure. Kitt came to me at 10 weeks old. Funny thing he used to do when he was little. If Socs wasn't in immediately for her food, I would say "Where's Socs" and he would run outside and wait for her to turn up. Now I have Oreo. She was a rescue and had been poorly treated by her previous owner. Incredibly timid at first, she didn't leave her room for two weeks, but, bit by bit, she grew in confidence. 15 months old when she arrived with me, I have had her 7 years now. Very difficult to get a photo of her, but occasionally I get one. The two of them have the odd barny, but generally they avoid one another except at meal times. Very occasionally they do a bit of synchronised washing. She did put me in A&E once. She absolutely hates having her spot on flea treatment and she tore a big cut into the palm of my hand. Often it takes two of us to get it on. My daughter wraps her in her motorcycle jacket while I put it on. Or I try to catch her unaware.
