I have a damaged 2721 that will become an 0-6-4 crane tank, probably Steropes and another which is going to become 4-4-0ST No13. Why? I'll think of something! 6
Popular Post MrWolf
Nearly five years on and I still get presents from the memsahib, just because. Those little things are more important than season tickets, Rolexes and Lamborghinis. She's been on a site visit today, saw something and thought of me. She's adamant that she found it amongst the fallen leaves and NOT fixed to a big fence ... Edited January 30 by MrWolf 22 1

Adrian I work to the Wolf-Spiers theorem of vintage motorcycles when it comes to Panniers. N = X + 1 Where: N is the ideal number of to have. X is the number you already have. 2 hours ago, lezz01 said: They are like Kirtley, Johnson and Deeley 0-6-0s you can never have too many. Regards Lez. Agreed, I do like Midland 0-6-0 tender locos and Aston branching off the GW/LNW joint line at Craven Arms is my excuse for the appearance of an LMS 4F on freight. I'm also a fan such machines from the other pre grouping companies. Then of course there's the 2-4-0 tender locos..... 10

RMweb Gold lezz01 Posted February 13 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13 That loco has a boiler very similar to the Jenny Lind 2-2-2 type that were later rebuilt as 0-6-0 well tanks. I love those mid 1800s locos. Regards Lez. 1

RMweb Gold ChrisN Posted February 14 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 14 Yes, it is a Sharp Stewart, and yes they had most of their locos built by them up until the late 19th Century. These were running until 1922, when the GWR took over. They were horrified and they soon met their end. 3D prints from @Knuckles, either his Shapeways shop, or contact him directly. (Usual disclaimers.)
MrWolf
I'm sure that I have some photos of those locos pre rebuild with temporary wooden cabs that appear to be made from floorboards. I'll have to go through my books.

Not me personally, but heard first hand from a couple who had to work quite hard (and spend a lot more time and money than lead to believe) to turn these into decent models. This is, hopefully, no longer the case cos they're gorgeous locos :)

My preference would be to use a powered tender chassis with something like aa tenshodo spud, or similar, if they still exist. There are no RTR chassis to fit as far as I know..
Schooner
3d printed chassis perhaps? Again, I've no personal experience but they do seem to be becoming more common.

It is on my list of things to do, after the buildings, the coaches, and perhaps before the wagons. 2

Sounds like he is up to his armpits in multiple 50 year old motorbike components. . . . . 70 year old motorcycle components in fact! I haven't given up on Aston or completely disappeared down the rabbit hole, I've been up to my ears with work, home and getting the 500cc BSA Star Twin put back together after the fire last summer. Of course, it became a complete rebuild of the "I might as well do it now because the bike is totally dismantled" variety. I've also acquired a couple of 250 BSA's from 1951 and 53, these had been dismantled forty five years ago and partly reassembled with no regard to what part came from what bike. I'm actually looking forward to making some more trees! 11
