To a degree, the proposal flies in the face of the EU's gradual opening up of networks to competition. Hence the backing from some monopoly state operators. Even though key routes are included, the proposals only cover a tiny proportion off European city pairs anyway. It needs a new thread, as it's not relevant to this topic. .
