RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted April 2, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 2, 2011 This could also double as extra storage for your layout as it would be much bigger inside than out! How safe would it be though? In early episodes of Dr Who, the TARDIS was very resilient to damage, but these days, almost any thing can attack the TARDIS. Also how often does the control panel blow up? Very expensive these days... Kevin Martin
SRman
I suppose there could be a few *slight* power fluctuations to the layout!

grahame
These were free with Doctor Who Adventures magazine back in February : http://merchandise.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/doctor-who-adventures-issue-203/ Yep, but they seem a lot dearer with the mag; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Doctor-Magazine-17-Dalek-Army-Set-/320671962306?pt=UK_ToysGames_ActionFigures_ActionFigures_JN&hash=item4aa989d4c2 The other downside is that they're the new Paradigm daleks and not the traditonal style ones. br-nse-fan
25mm dalek army; http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item33666ffed0 G. Not at home right now, so no access to anything to measure with... but how close to 'scale' would these look for OO? Thanks!
Karhedron
These should look fairly close. Wargamers use 25mm to mean that an average height human would be 25mm high. If we assume a height of 6' then this gives us 1830mm. 1830/25 = 73. So these figures are approximately 1:73 scale. Close enough for 00 I think. grahame
Not at home right now, so no access to anything to measure with... but how close to 'scale' would these look for OO? Those look like the new Daleks which are about 6 ft tall so if they're 25mm figures they are pretty much spot on for OO/4mm scale (should be 24mm high). However, the older daleks (below) are only 5 ft tall so these ones at 25mm tall are quite a bit more over scale for 4mm (should be 20mm high). G. Etched Pixels
"not the traditonal style ones" There isn't a traditional style - they varied in all sorts of ways between stories as the props were patched up, updated, replaced etc !
frobisher
There isn't a traditional style - they varied in all sorts of ways between stories as the props were patched up, updated, replaced etc ! Without getting too geeky on this it is a fair call, as the original built props survived in use in the show up to the early late 70's and in effect only varied in detailing during that period so it is fair to call a traditional style here - barring their first two appearences, the gretest difference between the Daleks is their colour up to and including "Destiny of the Daleks". New props were built for each of their next few appearences. But the Citadel Daleks are too big for use with OO when directly placed with correctly scaled items. grahame
There isn't a traditional style - they varied in all sorts of ways between stories as the props were patched up, updated, replaced etc ! Yep, I'm very aware of the different types and styles (Shawcraft, various marks, movie ones, imperial, emperor, renegrade, gunner, sec, Paradigm, etc.,) but in general all those before the Paradigm ones were descended from the original 6 Shawcraft daleks in basic design and similar in size/height. The Paradign one are significantly different and taller. G.
frobisher
For those with a bit of time on their hands (though obviously no where near as much as the authors of the site) there's this... http://www.dalek6388.co.uk/ It almost makes Flying Scotsman's provenance look simple
beachcomber_bob
What you need is a DCC Tardis with the sound and lights..... Well I'm almost there - just got to work out how to fit sound....http://www.dailymotion.com/beachcomber_bob#videoId=xkupok
frobisher
Well I'm almost there - just got to work out how to fit sound....http://www.dailymoti...#videoId=xkupok Awesome job there I had to constantly focus on your fingers to remind myself that this was 28mm but OO! There's a plush TARDIS toy with a sound system I saw in Tesco the other day - that might be a a starting point (the "hard" bit didn't seem very big at all). [edit] This one in fact... http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.212-0941.aspx
beachcomber_bob
I hand make and paint both the OO scale Tardis and the Doctor/assistant figures (sold a few on Ebay even). So far I have modelled the last two doctors (Tennant and Smith), Amy Pond, Rose Tyler and Martha Jones. See the gallery.

[edit] This one in fact... http://direct.tesco....R.212-0941.aspx Mmm... I might rip me one of them apart. I had already sourced one of those 'record your own greeting' circuits from a manufacturer in China, but both the mic and the speaker are rubbish, and you can't hear it very well unless the recording is blasted at such a high volume as to distort it. My next experiment is to try direct recording on to it from an mp3 via the line out on my PC. Plus finding somewhere to hide it on the model, as my pulsing circuit takes up the entire inside of the Tardis. If only it really was bigger on the inside.... Karhedron
I have a small tardis sound effect generator that came from inside a Dr Who easter egg. Might we worth keeping an eye out for (plus there is no need to waste the chocolate ).
34theletterbetweenB&D
Am I the only one who wants to merge Dr Who and MPATHG, and have a scene where the Daleks have at last got on with the job and cut his arms and legs off, so that we don't have to endure clever clogs any longer? beachcomber_bob
He also appears to have modelled Billy Piper - I'd much prefer the model to be based upon Karen Gillan After this prototype, I did go on to do the latest Doctor (Matt Smith) and Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), as well as another with the previous Doctor with Martha. RMweb Premium GraemeWatson Posted February 9, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 9, 2014 Inspired by the above, got myself a Dart Castings 1950s Teddy Boy, and introduced him to Spanish Acrylics. The TARDIS is Hornby Skaledale
