Hi all.
A request for help.
Does anyone have (or know where there is) plans or drawings for Kyle of Lochalsh station building. I vaguely remember seeing some in a magazine many years ago but can’t for the life of me find the article.
Any help would be much appreciated.
kind regards.
Bill.

IIRC the Highland Archive Service has an (almost) complete set of Highland Railway drawings and plans related to the line. I'm not sure if they are physically kept at the Highland Archive Centre in Inverness or the Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre in Portree.

Now, I'm sure I also remember the station drawings in Railway Modeller. But they don't seem to be on the Highland Railway Society's list of articles.

The Engine Shed and Signal Box are there. Maybe I'm thinking of the Engine Shed articles as that date of 1975 is about the right era.

Model Railway Constructor 1975 May has track plan only.

Also look for articles by Richard Chown, he built a 7mm model of the station. I don't have any articles, apart from the overview in MRC 1971 March.

I had a thought that local authority Planning websites are often a good source of information, use them a lot at work.  There has been an application to alter the museum, only limited to part of the building being altered but hopefully useful.

Full list of applications here. https://wam.highland.gov.uk/wam/propertyDetails.do?activeTab=relatedCases&keyVal=J1OME4IHLI191

One day I may get round to starting a 70s/80s based layout but have so far only been collecting information.

I was pretty sure I'd seen at Model Rail Scotland 2023 a stall with laser cut kits of Scottish stations and I thought one of them was Kyle of Lochalsh and it looked very impressive. But the only thing similar I can find looks like it might have been Fort William.

Hi. Thanks for the recent replies and info. I did look at the Pop Up Designs kit which I think were on a Preservation stand? at Model Rail Scotland earlier in the year (Was in the far corner of the hall) I wasn’t keen on the large tabs and thought there is a fair amount of work to get the kit to what I want it to be.
Cheers.
Bill.
