Whoah hold on there @AY Mod how can you go straight to the 'obvious' answer so quickly, we've not had time to debate:

  • stripping the loco to component parts
  • degreasiing the gears
  • a discussion on the best method to regrease the gears
  • a heated debate on the merits of the chosen method of greasing
  • the relative profitability of Hornby
  • old mechanisms were better
  • building your own mechanism
  • Heljan
  • tag accurascale wishlisting they would do this loco
  • a tangent through covid, micro processor shortages, bringing production back to the UK, lack of spare parts and why Simon Kohler retired but ending with a recollection of seeing City of Salford at Carlisle in 1961 looking resplendent but forlorn by 1962
  • back towards topic with some other horror stories about E-bay purchases before someone eventually says, just return it from whence it came for refund or replacement.

What happens if they have sold out of 46257 City of Salford and you cannot get a replacement? It is not in this year's catalogue.

@woodenhead - you didn't cover that did you? 😁

Shrug your shoulders and accept that we can't always have what we want!
