Present day freight on Cumbrian coast route

Having recently purchased several Accurascale Class 37/4’s and Bachmann DRS Mk2f’s, I’ve moved my still not started layout from Lincolnshire to the Cumbrian coast line.

Apart from the nukes with their flasks, PFA’s with low level waste containers, is their any other regular freight workings over the line?

I’m tempted to apply some modellers licence as I have 16 BYA’s which I was going to use for a Boston steel train, and I was wondering if I could use them on a steel train to/from Workington steel plant (if it’s still working) or the docks.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is a colas working with slurry wagons to and from Workington but other than the DRS stuff and one offs like the weedsprayer nothing that I’m aware of

workinfton steel works is long gone, wouldn’t even know it was there anymore!

Thanks @big jim, the video clip is most useful and as for the steel train, I’ll apply some modelling licence and it’s a new steel flow, originating in the docks.

There were a series of stone trains for the capping of the Drigg repositories. (They seem to run for a couple of weeks at a time)

Quite a few different wagon types used over the years.

Finding The Path

All Hail Ra!

6Z21 DRS 66421 & 66091 TNT Drigg to Barrow docks.

66433 Kirksanton 31/3/16

At home on the Cumbrian Coast

You could invoke rule 1 and imagine the proposed new opencast mine has opened
