MRJ 299 arrived in Bath today, my take on it is here

MRJ299.jpg.ba42ca0a6b91299809e45e65a4a93b70.jpg

Edited by Paul Karau himself, it has a pleasingly varied content, which includes two superb articles that encompass the railway scene from mid 19th Century London, Chris Cox's "Greyhound Place"  through to glorious "Banger Blue" - Dave Roome's "Underhill Yard". And all still for the same bargain price of £6.20!

I'm clearly failing at using the Internet today, but how do you subscribe to Model Railway Journal?

Per the instructions on the contents page, write to:

Model Railway Journal, Cygnet Magazines Ltd.,

c/o Elgar Books, 10 Bradshaw Crescent,

Honley, Holmfirth, Huddersfield HD9 6EG

enclosing a cheque for £24.80 to cover the next four issues.

At one time they took Postal Orders too, but those are not now mentioned.

Stephen is right and Rob too, I (Titfield) am only a retailer of the MRJ. I bought the stock of back issues from Cygnet when we all had to move out of Didcot (including the then remaining GWJ and BRJ issues too) and all that I have in stock are listed on the Titfield Website. Foreign MRJ subs are available from Gary at British Railway Books, but not UK, I think.

Weren’t UK subs available from a third party, Elite Subscription maybe(?)  I am fairly sure I recall someone on RMweb talking about this, I think.

I am since 2015 the publisher of Wild Swan books though, so all of that is my fault!!

Going back to MRJ, we must be due issue 300 soon…….

Simon, that reminds me - amongst the back issues that you acquired did you also get any of the MRJ indexes?  I have some gaps which need filling…

Hi Richard,

In lieu of a printed index....

This runs up to issue 280 but no updates after that.

Thanks Rob - I've already got that site bookmarked, and in fact I make a (very) small donation to the site owner each month (as requested on the home page) to help with the site maintenance costs.  But in reality all the on-line magazine indexes are ultimately transient and incomplete, so I'd like a full set of the printed indexes as a back up!

Being slightly pedantic, that address is postally correct only if you remove 'Huddersfield' from it.  I pointed the error out to Cygnet Magazines recently, when I renewed my subscription, so perhaps they will amend it in future editions of MRJ.

The error does not seem to have impeded my subscription renewal several times over!
