RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted December 12, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 12, 2023 I wish to add low voltage led lighting to a number of buildings on the layout Any ideas of where I can purchase thin twin wire ? about the size of wire used in wiring sound chips in locomotives Terry
Crosland
I've never seen it. I would use individual wires and twist them if you just want to keep them together.
RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted December 12, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 12, 2023 I’m trying to avoid twisting individual wire as suggest if possible.
RMweb Premium Jeremy Cumberland Posted December 12, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 12, 2023 Speaker cable, perhaps.
Brian
Old redundent ear speakers are a source. As suggested twin low power speaker cable is another option. However, when I instal LED lights into buildings etc I tend to use a Red and Black single wire, each glued to the inside front corner of the building and they are totally unnoticable. Kynar wire (Example Link to wire } is ideal for this, though its a solid strand rather then flexable wire. But this isn't a problem as the buildings don't move. 😀
RAF96
I use copper tapes as my houses bus with super flexible individual pos and neg feeds soldered to it. A plug and socket could be installed if they ever need to be removed.
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted December 13, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 13, 2023 Enamelled wire, you don't need multicore, strip an old motor for a goodly supply. Mike.
Michael Hodgson
You could try Squire's, or iIf you can find a doll's house supplier (there was one near us, but it closed a couple of years ago) they fit lights using copper tape or enamelled wire. Or look for something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363881541993?var=633108627923
WIMorrison
Not twin, but the type of wire you are looking for http://tramfabriek.co.uk/ultra-thin-wire.html
cliff park
There are some very tiny coaxes, like on earpieces, they work well, ultra flexible and effectively only one wire to run
