Ohmisterporter
One of the things that have impressed me with this topic is that it has made me look at the railway scene in greater detail. Not that most of my pictures have improved, far from it, bit I do look for more unusual ephemera. Locos and rolling stock are only part of the big picture with railways. This pic was taken at a preserved railway in Wales recently. BTW I don't know why it says Attached Thumbnails.

eastwestdivide
What station was that? Nunhead? Covent Garden? Dover Priory? Abbey Wood? Or on the way out of Sheffield at Nunnery Junction. Much later... Come on folks, you're meant to "like" the creative photos not the terrible puns! Edited June 1, 2012 by eastwestdivide

Like the way the eye is drawn to the bobble hat, centre right, a piece of headwear not seen quite so much these days, mostly superseded by fleece efforts. eastwestdivide
Time for a reminder that the summer weather, while not that great, isn't in fact as bad as a f-f-f-freezing winter when the Kennet & Avon Canal froze over. 1985, Hungerford/Bedwyn area:
RMweb Gold Trevellan Posted June 5, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 5, 2012 Here's another oldie from me - Southport, September 1973. This one demonstrates that I was "getting my eye in" by then, but cheap lenses and inexperience made for an imperfect shot. Still, on the bright side there's lots of interesting detail visible.

Rugd1022
Thanks Derek, I'm just glad a lot of the old stuff is still around to be photographed. I get a bit bored taking the standard 'three quarter shot' sometimes, not that there's anything wrong with this approach you understand, far from it, I have hundreds of books filled with such pics which still manage to satisfy, mainly because they're taken by professionals!
