RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted September 30, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 30, 2019 I did post on the Hornby Ruston thread. Other railway modelling may occur soon (perhaps). Our nephew Josh and his girlfriend are off to India for a month. He recently finally qualified as a GP and has been working as a locum GP since. When he gets back he is going to continue locum work but look for somewhere more permanent. He is fairly settled in the Brighton area but he still has many North London connections. They will be travelling and also visiting family in India. MiL’s sister asked if Josh and Bianca are married. MiL said no but it doesn’t matter, lots of people don’t get married here in England if they live together. MiL has changed her views somewhat from about 40 years ago. Last time I was told they intended to remove some polyps that had been noticed the previous time. However after removal the consultant said they had turned out not to be polyps but pseudopolyps so no worry. 15 1

Popular Post Debs.
A welcome surprise order for some of my 0-MF track gauges, occupied an hour or so in preparation and packing this morning, followed by a trip to the Post Office for their dispatch. A letter arriving from the Electoral Officer at the Town Hall, concerning my non-traceability (yet again) means yet-more scanning of driving licence, birth and marriage certificates so I can exercise my voting rights this year.....they asked for the same scans last year too!

Popular Post Ian Abel
Moaning all... Weekend was busy and included a severe bout of "I'm too old for this sh!t" Saturday, in the form of putting down 120+ carpet squares amounting to about 320+sq. ft. of floor space in the old house. Didn't really take that long in the grand scheme of things, about 3 hours or so with Trevors help, but my knees and back have been complaining ever since! What used to be the railway room is now returned to its former glory as an American basement "family room", whatever that really is Picked up our friends returning from a trip Saturday evening, and had a good Chinese meal/chat with them. Sunday, decided to do NOTHING but relax. Sitting in the porch reading the Sunday paper, this guy decided to chance his/her arm at catching a meal from our front bird feeders... He/she was about ten feet from where we were sitting, flew into the tree adjacent to the car and wasn't fazed when I went out to try and take more pictures. None worth showing as too hidden by the tree foliage. Flight to JFK uneventful. In the room before 1AM, almost a record, the flight being early. HOWEVER, someone had a vehicle that started setting of its alarm in the hotel parking lot at 4:45. Seems if you don't "attend to them", they run for a few minutes, stop for maybe 4-5 minutes and then just run again. Suffice to say, since it was STILL doing it when I left to drive in at 6:50, the owner was presumably on the other side of the hotel. Those of us facing the parking lot were pretty much ALL up and in the lobby very early though Quiet driving in, given there is a large Jewish community in NY/Long Island, and Rosh Hashana is tomorrow, apparently many take the day before off rather than try and rush home before sunset... 14 and cloudy first thing, headed for only 21 for a high. Hope your week starts well. EDIT: Additional note, forgot that getting dressed this AM zipper broke on my dress trousers so had to come in here in jeans! We've just had ours for extending our overseas voter registration. Beth got one type of email, I got a different one. It helps that an old colleague runs the voter registration office in Leeds. A quick phone call and the matter was sorted with two clicks of his mouse. I will be having a pint with him one lunchtime when we are next over. RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted September 30, 2019 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) Busy day. Nice to see one of the Post Office staff back at work. She has been missing since her daughter was killed in the Manchester bombing. And a large parcel appeared from Dyson with a replacement brush system for our vacuum cleaner (the one which uses the same cyclonic system as they had in coal washing plants). Changed heads so the diagnostic ( the head micro motor had failed) was correct. Her indoors a very happy bunny as I hoovered the ground floor carpets and floor coverings to check it all works. Appears to be working a lot better than before it failed. Now, time for some wire strangling! Baz Edited September 30, 2019 by Barry O

RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted September 30, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 30, 2019 We had a letter today inviting us to attend for flu jabs. I asked my medical relative about the two versions being used this year. He reckoned that although I have a few chronic conditions I would be better off with the over 65 version not the one for the under 65 with health problems. The over 65 contains one less virus variant , the B/Phuket strain. Not needed for the elderly apparently. Tony 7 9

RMweb Premium TheQ Posted September 30, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 30, 2019 Afternoon / evening awl, I don't know about Ben the border collie being knackered I certainly am doing all three walks every day. The wall has been filled and sanded, and a trial direct coat of paint put on. It might be that a lining paper might not be needed. Not a lot else has happened.. Time to... Put a mist coat on it 1 part water 3-4 parts paint it will seal the wall and allow normal painting you will end up with a mess otherwise don't thin it too much or it will require another slightly thicker coat 4 2
RMweb Gold Popular Post grandadbob Posted September 30, 2019 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) Evenin' each. Persisting down again here but I'm dry on the outside and only damp on the inside due to a Shiraz spillage from glass to mouth. The Boss would like me to thank you for all the birthday wishes. She and we had a great day yesterday. We ventured into London and had quite a few drinks and a nice meal in a couple of the very few hostelries open on a Sunday in the City. Only slight downer was that Nicki received a phone call while we were out to say that her best friend Jane (Wife of our friend Steve who nearly died of pneumonia and sepsis a couple of years ago and cousin of Nick who was nearly killed by a concrete bollard falling through a roof last year) had had a heart attack. She's only just turned 50 so that was a bit of a shock. Latest news is that is was a mild attack and she's OK. It was a bit draughty and wet while we were walking from station to pub to pub and back again, partially alongside the Thames. The river was high and the current looked very strong. Wouldn't have liked to have fallen in there. Looks like another glass to mouth spillage is imminent. PS I don't often enjoy seeing Wales win but as it was against the Aussies I am ecstatic! RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted September 30, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 30, 2019 Have spent some time this afternoon looking at changing my energy supplier. New deal from my existing one looked fine and I was just about to sign up when I noticed in their terms that it was a condition of the deal that I had a smart meter fitted. Kicked that into touch and the search will continue tomorrow. N.O WayJose 7 3 1
