This happened to me last month and after a couple of visits I went to the GP’s surgery and the prescription form was there, in amongst all those that people pick up themselves. This despite having the named pharmacy at the top.  Someone had ‘ticked the wrong box’  I was told. Apparently this is not an unknown occurrence so it might be worth checking with your GP’s reception.

Could be very large ventilators? Great to try to help but it really needs a different skill ser for medical items.

They may be able to produce ventilators in a matter of hours or days but it takes four years to train an ICU nurse.

Not a bad nights sleep if a bit short, 6.0 hours..

 

Ben decided to go on patrol this morning had found plenty of pheasants and pigeons to chase.

 

The early morning raid of Tesco was successful in that I got 2 loaves of bread and two Bags of porridge,  the car park was 3/4 full at 06:15!!

 

There was a notice on the door they will be closing from 22:00 to 06:00 from today to allow for shelf stacking, I'm guessing the suppliers are getting their acts together and more stock will be arriving, so all the till staff will be needed for stacking. The problem for the supermarkets is the moment all the shelves are full, the panic will stop and they will be getting too much stock in...

 

Everyone has their own keys to our MRC, so you can come and go as you please , although Tuesday and Friday Evenings plus all day Thursday are the main events. I suspect that it will continue as is under " on your head be it"..

 

SWMBO has ordered I get anything from the big orange shed I may need, in case  we have to isolate.. I may get the corona virus but that is not going to be allowed to stop work orders at home!!

 

One major system was completed yesterday, I will inspect the cross check results shortly, that will be followed by starting on the next one...

 

Time to... check the company spam, which no doubt  will be all about.....

Oh and to send my new daily email to the engineering boss,.., choose from.. On-site, WFH, Sick.

I haven't been able to find any pasta, tinned tomatoes or loo roll at any of my local shops but got a tip off yesterday that one of them expects to have all three available at opening time today. My ever kind and thoughtful wife decided it was a job for me while she would sleep in and avoid the crowd!

True. If push came to shove I'd rather have to deal with an immediate shortage of ICU nurses than an immediate shortage of ventilators. (Apparently we have fewer than 700 ventilators for a state population exceeding four million.)

Good morning all.

 

A good day was had on an empty train to and from Tonbridge to inspect the repaired landslip.

 

A couple of virtually empty bars that had hand sanitizer for use as you approached the bar. Easily sat more than 5 M from the next person. One is shutting on Friday and the other maybe sooner.

 

Back in Redhill (still clutching my loo roll pack bought earleir) I met other half off her very lightly loaded train from Farringdon and had dinner in SPoons whihc was also quieter so we had a booth to ourselves with more propganda from Mr Martin stating how much tax they pay to the Govt etc. I gave up reading it after a few sentences.

 

Then other half went into Sainsburys but shelves stripped bare again although she did pick up some frozen items that we have not been able to get for some weeks, then home.

More on the emerging toilet paper economy.

 

A taqueria in LA, forced to close their dining room, is offering large "emergency taco kits" to go (including five pounds of chicken and five pounds of carne asada). Helpfully they are also including four rolls of toilet paper with the order, which, when you think of it, would come in handy with tacos. For some reason they are also including 30 eggs. 

 

Perhaps more take out food orders should include toilet paper with which, "to go".

Vickers PLC not only owned the Defence System group but also Rolls Royce and Bentley Cars, Cosworth and Vickers Medical 

The medical Group were tasked with seeing if any of the companies inside Vickers could make any of their products. Cosworth could make everything from scratch in small quantities. None of the others could get near the required cleanliness stadards. Independentl most items could be made..just needed high quality, clean environments to put the bits together.

BoD you are so right. Of course all the retired ICU nurses can be called up... if they are fit and able to attend.

 

A retired GP I know says they are now out of touch with latest thinking so could only do minor tasks now.

Someone with sufficient training to do minor tasks could free up others to deal with the larger ones. Sister in law (an experienced A&E and ex RAF aeromedical nurse) was on Red section at RGH Newport on Monday night then Paediatrics last night. She hasn’t been asked to do extra shifts yet. It is unlikely she will venture too far from home now, certainly not to North York’s to see grandson nor to Herts to see her sister.
We need to shop as milk, fresh veg and fruit are all down to a day or so’s supply. I suspect that will be at Waitrose in Hitchin but the lemmings round here are as herd-like as elsewhere. I went to a mill shop I use quite frequently as my cupboard had only one bag of bread flour. Waiting patiently in the queue, the woman at the front was explaining how she needed four sacks of porridge oats as “she could live on porridge and she needed some for her sister in law”. In the face of a clearly aggressive and selfish woman, one can’t expect the shop assistant to do anything but serve the selfish bitch!
And so to chauffeur, then some couping of grasse before a little unmentionable and or some photo editing. Be careful, be good and don’t seize up.

MrsID is a NHS qualified nurse, midwife and health-visitor. She was also a RN (registered nurse) in the US although she let that lapse recently. If she was called for duty I'm sure she, like many other nurses, would step-up.

Morming all from a very su ny Charente. Apparently the good weather is expected  to continue for a while. Our first day of lockdown has now passed and we are still here.  The village bread machine is still being stocked which is good.  Today we need to go to The Danglies as Beth has a hospital  appointment so the travel forms have been filled out.  We also hope to visit a supermarket  for a few items.  Apart from that life is pretty much as normal.  The last of the current batch of holes are now square and the ironwork is now in primer. That will be Painted Black, this morning.  

 

There is definitely less traffic on the roads, 1 car per hour rather than 2 but lorries and farm machinery  are still going about as usual.

The good people in Italy have every reason to be hysterical. They are suddenly losing many family members. A couple of weeks isn't going to take care of this one.

 

Things will go on of course but very many people will be touched as this plays out. My only hope is that we pay attention and don't cheerfully assume that something like this isn't going to happen again.

A mad Belgian was brought in and decided he could make more money for "the shareholders" by splitting the company up..and that year we had > £1Bn turnover and 10 % plus profits..I had left by then...

The overnight rain is just about stopping, but not quite. Breakfast has been consumed and shortly I’ll set off to the swimming pool for a swim which according to the app this morning and the conversation I had with the staff last night is still open usual. 

 

Later ER’s we have Ava, Evie and Max coming round for tea, so it’s pretty much carry on as normal here.

The same happened to GEC after Weinstock died. The directors made lots of money, a lot of others especially those with money in the Marconi I.T. bit, lost a lot..

Morning all from Estuary-Land. No urgent need to go shopping, just papers to get today so I might just toddle down to the newsagents shortly. Some of the upcoming events are still advertised as opening but its extreamly doubtful now that they will. On the local (London) news last night was that Ally Pally itself was shutting its doors for the duration. Time now to start excavating the spare room and discover some forgotten half finished projects.
