I Elder Lurker seems to be in the same boat. He finally gets taken on by the school and is now not well enough to go in. He's been running a temperature. I can't remember the last time he had time off sick - I don't recall him missing a single day at secondary school so it may well have been primary school. Mind you, we were the sort of parents who had very little truck with time off for the sniffles so he had to be really unwell to get a look in at a day at home!
AndrewC
Good moaning from the boring borough. My you lot have been busy over the past 2 days. Still playing catch up. A belated Happy Anniversary to Tony and Aditi. Here is to many more. A grand weekend visiting the offspring in Carlisle was had. First Father's Day in 4 years that we've been together. I must have done something to appease the traffic gods as both the trip up and home were painless and quick. Our spare small Kamado bbq was delivered and they've taken to it already. Pulled pork on Saturday and pizzas yesterday. Another week of pushing ones and zeros about. Enjoy the day. 16

RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted June 20, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 20, 2022 We went to see MiL yesterday. We were showing her some photos we had been sent via WhatsApp of a family wedding in Agra a week ago. We had an example of how memory can go wrong in the elderly. While we had the family WhatsApp page open a message came from MIL’s younger sister (Aruna) saying that everyone at the wedding had come down with Covid but they were all recovering and no one had been too unwell. MiL decided to telephone her sister, and informed her she was having a nice visit from Aruna and her husband. Her sister soon realised that MiL was confused. MiL then tried to say she meant Aditi but clearly couldn’t remember her name so said “my daughter, not Punam as she is in Sussex today”. 2

simontaylor484
I am having difficulty walking round the house today. Not due to myblegs but a certain little dachshund by the name of Pebbles is constantly trying to get my left sock whilst it is still on my foot. She certainly seems to have a killer instinct she will get stuff and give it a right good doggy shake with her mouth 6 9
RMweb Premium southern42 Posted June 20, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 20, 2022 ' afternoon all from red dragon land. Sunny, a bit cloudy, light breeze. I would not go so far as saying it was hot, warm enough for me, though. So, I reckon I should get out and get that fern moved... and get cracking on the muddling. May be a while... RMweb Gold Popular Post Tony_S Posted June 20, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted June 20, 2022 (edited) It is sunny here. Very sunny. Whenever I have to have my pupils dilated for retinal photography it seems to be sunny. Aditi managed to park just round the corner from the clinic. I wasn’t in long enough for her to exceed the parking time limit. Tony Edited June 20, 2022 by Tony_S Wrong to too 1

Chris I keep my spare new batteries in the refrigerator. I recall reading/being told so many years ago that the cooler temperature will slow any self-discharge. I do not=know if that is really true but so far I have n problems with them; well, except for cold fingers when changing batteries! 9
RMweb Premium southern42 Posted June 20, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 20, 2022 Fern moved. It was a double but I decided not to separate the two halves and just plonked it as is into the hole I had just dug. It was just the right size - no measurements, I just stopped when I had had enough! Covered with bark, watered and that was part of the day's job done. Round the peony from where came the fern, was a different matter. First, some weeding in the vicinity (that is another story!) and a layer of bark. Took more effort than I would have liked, but there you are. Job done. Now downing cold orange juice. Muddling? I think that will keep for another day... maybe I will think about it. Planning the order in which things have to be done to complete the current project, might be a good start... 5 1
Winslow Boy
I'm off to dig out some brown gold from the compost bin. I have just enough time if I stop faffing about on here to do it. Then it's feed DD and walk her. I'm gone. 12
RMweb Premium pgcroc Posted June 20, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 20, 2022 Never mind whisky/whiskey!😳 A trendy London pub is selling what is believed to be Britain's most expensive beer - at an eye-watering £80.15 a pint. The pricey beverage, which is served at a boozer in Brixton, south London, is an American import. The Craft Beer Co chain has shipped over Reforged 20th Anniversary Ale at £105 per 750 ml bottle, which is around 1.3 pints, from an 'artisanal' microbrewery in San Diego, California. 2 1

Craft Beer Co is hardly trendy anymore. 😃 Alesmith do some amazing beers but I wasn't impressed with their Reforged series. (No I didn't pay anything close to that amount.) That is still not even close to the most expensive UK beer. Brewdog's End of history was £220 for a 33cl bottle at 51%abv. Their Sink the Bismark was around £60 for a 33cl making that roughly £115 for a pint. 11
Popular Post Ian Abel
AWOL with no real excuses, just busy with ToDo items and various and sundry taxi services/errands to run 🤯 Enjoyed a great evening of musical entertainment on Friday, a neighborhood happy-hour Saturday evening and Sunday Fathers Day brunch with the Mrs and kids preparing waffles, various berries/fruit and yoghurt, and Mimosas - Brendan missing as he was off flying; Beastly hot and humid yesterday so brunch was taken inside. Managed around 37c. Expected to TOP that heat today and the next four days as we have a stalled front over us and the high supposed to reach 38c(100F) today and tomorrow. Heat index estimated to be a few degrees above that ☹️ Onward... 21

Today is the day the weather is supposed to change here with clouds (present) expected to clear this afternoon. The solstice tomorrow will bring pleasantly warm, above 'normal', temperatures, but weekend-to-weekend, the temperature is forecast to rise by 14°C (with 34°C forecast for Sunday). It is at least preferable to the record highs on that day a year ago, the heat wave topping out at 47°C on the 28th. 10

RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted June 20, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 20, 2022 Honey-do jobs are honey-did, although collecting a prescription was banjaxed by the GP putting NEXT Monday's date on it....why? To add to it, the pharmacies here are in dire straits, there are three Lloyds in the Bright Lights of Ramsey but one has closed due to insufficient staff, and the other two are really struggling, with everything. Rumour says Lloyds have sold out, so there's not any stock and no recruitment has been done for ages. We use a local independent in Laxey, or one in Kirk Michael, where there is no hassle but it means a drive of 12 miles or so. No problem today, on the bike in the sun! Ian A, every time I see your family, I smile with pleasure at the harmony - and wish that others could be so inclusive. 17 1
