Wencombe/Kingsbridge Regis/Louville Lane

An authentic formation using the pigeon van would couple it to a single non-corridor brake composite.  A van was booked to run between Paddington and Kingsbridge each weekday and run down the branch coupled to the branch passenger.  Several photos show a pigeon van filling this role.  Whether the working lasted into the bubble car era I know not.

Just read about Rob's problems with elephants perhaps he'd like me to send this along the line.

I don't have any problems with elephants Alan.I only use Devonshire cattle on Brent. The rest is photo-shopped by the foreign legion of RMweb.

That vehicle would look nicer in brown with a shirtbutton on. ;)

From the photo, it looks as though the elephant is at the right hand end. :)

Being pedantic for a moment, according to Russell volume 2 only 580 was specially strengthened for the carriage of elephants. 580 was given diagram P20 and coded Python A, whereas 561 - 579 were to diagram P19 and just Pythons.

Thanks St Enodoc, Your right, I'd not noticed before that the right end is very slightly lower than the left. I'll have to figure a way of correcting it.

I was going to suggest putting another elephant in the left hand end, but I won't...
