cary hill
Good to see those photographs aren't from a poor quailty Bradford Barton reprint - some more quailty images would be a real treat.

RMweb Premium DLT Posted August 12, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 12, 2014 Love the early DMU pictures, good old Bradford Barton. Where would we be without them? I'm gradually collecting them secondhand, I couldnt afford them at the time! Cheers, Dave.
Popular Post westerner
A long time since I've posted anything significant. To miss quote the Bard "I have of late, I know not where, lost all my mojo" somewhere in Hamlet. However I decided to get on. Now if I am going to alter Wencombe into the terminus at Kingsbridge Regis then I will definitely need a turntable. So I thought that was a good place to start, for if I couldn't produce one that looked GWR ish then I would not go ahead. I do have a peco one which I used on my last layout Abergower, however I wanted one that looked like a GWR one. At the back of my modelling cupboard I found a Dapol Turntable Kit. Now I thought is it possible to do a bit of bashing so that it would look like a 65ft table. Studying photos of the table at Kingswear I realised I would have to reduce not only the length of the over girder but its height. So armed with razor saw, knife, metal straight edge and clamps I started on the premise that if I really messed it up I could buy another kit and start again. Luckily by cutting off the two end sections it is ideal for a 65ft table. The deck too was trimmed to length. A couple of picks.
Andrew P
Hi Alan, really neat job so far, will you motorise it, or will it be Digitally Controlled from the Index Finger?
westerner
It could be the index finger Andy or like my last one a cog and gears and a handle.
westerner
A little bit more done on the turntable. The bits removed from the over girder have been replaced with Evergreen strip. Luckily their 4.8mm x 1mm fitted perfectly in the slot in the deck. the girder has been primed. Next give them a check over and then paint.

westerner
Amazing what primer reveals. I noticed some moulding circles on the girder and that I had not replaced the bottom flange when I add the bottom girder. All now done.

Popular Post westerner
Just having a break from the turntable and having seen Robins pics of his Collet goods, thought I'd take a few of 2258 on the Kingsbridge to Newton train.
