Hi Leon,

Love the latest pics, your wagon fleet is growing as is your fleet of 37s, just something you may not be aware of is that 37/7s differ from 37/5s in that a window on each side is blanked out.

I'm doing the same with my 37514, renumber to 37711 tremorfa steelworks, add ploughs jobs a good un. Not sure how I'm going to tackle the bodyside window removal yet tho. And if all goes well ill purchase a 2nd and renumber to 712

Good evening all,

 

The eight class 37 arrived in South Wales today in the form on 37514 in Trainload Metals, pretty popular I see at just £48. Only trouble is, I now have 3 Thornaby Kingfisher branded 37's, just as much as my South Wales ones.

 

The local police are also driving round in a rather modern Land Rover TDI, for nineties...well until I find a sherpa van that is.

Thanks Guys, I may have to de brand the Land Rover as its has Essex markings on, all the vehicles I have a a few years past the period im trying to model, I will just replace them as they become availible. Has anyone seen any info on here on how to cover the bodyside window on a 37 to make it a 37/7?

Hi Leon,

Have a look at Pugsley's blog I am pretty sure he did a 37/7.

 

The layout is looking great by the way. It's nice to see a packed loco shed.

Afternoon all,

 

Busy depot on the weekend with the lack of work, 60062, 37800, 37415, 56032, 37201, 37514, 37898, 37406, 37803, 37506, 47612 & 47322.

 

Foster Yeomans 59005 "KENNITH J PAINTER" stabled over in the yard keeping company with 09107.

 

Im planning a bit of a fleet shack up at some point, the two Heavyweight coal 37/8 are still on a 37/0 body so 37803 will become  37689 or 37699 as they still have the bodyside window. Both retaining Trainload Coal decals. Rfd 37406 which I bought for freightliner and Speedlink traffic will become a St Blazey number on which is named so I do not need to remove the printed nameplate, more chance of seeing a St Blazey 37/6 than a Scotish one in South Wales.  37514 will have its bodyside window filled and become either 711 or 712. Railfreight 37506 will retain its Thornaby status as Im sure there have been a few into South Wales on steel workings. Hopefully the changes will make the fleet more local to the area. Considering selling 59005 for some wagons, it looks pretty but serves little purpose at the moment with a lack of  British Steel PTA tippers.

 

 

Mt Etna transfers have been ordered for 37415 in order to make her a Tinsley machine. Next step is to remove the bodyside Kingfisher and make dirty.

Hope you don't mind but I thought i'd post one of my pictures just to confirm that Thornaby 37's are fine in South Wales.

£9 for some Mt Etna transfers for 37415 , that's a bit steep. That's a quarter of what I paid for the thing. Maybe I should have left it a Thornaby loco....

 

Well there here now, suppose I should stick them on....

I have a picture of both the Foster and ARC 59's on Godfrey Road stabling point Newport. So it does not look out of place. Don't forget the Barry depot and Newport Rail freight open days.

Layout is looking really good.

I don't know if it has been mentioned before but from time to time the mendip 59s went light to Canton for tyre turning when required, so another excuse to see one,

I know they were around in Wales, and I have seen pics of them on the Iron Ore trains, I'm just thinking of getting rid to bring in funds for a few wagons. I have always likes the look of the 59's esp the blue National Power ones, however I have a 66 that looks similar. Maybe I will just stable itin the depot for the time being.

Today I must be losing it, I know I need more wagons yet I find myself on Hattons about to purchase coaching stock for a layout called South Wales Freight...hmmm.

I have always had the intention of having a few trains stable and run round in the yard on 5 Nations Rugby days and the odd rail tour (Using the FY 59 or later a EWS 66), I have seen a miniture Railtour headboard on a layout somewhere? Does anyone know where I can get any from?

 

Anyway, we may well soon see some Intercity 47's from Old Oak with Rugby specials from Paddington soon, Tinsleys 37415 "Mt Etna" may also be used... The Unnoficial names have been added, she is drying on the dining table for an hour before micro sol, then time to clean out the airbrush and hopefull a blast of dirt tomorrow.

Hello Guy,

 

The Lisa's nail polish remover with a cotton bud, it has left a faint shine but im sure weathering will cover that, the decals are also very glossy, will have to dirty them over. I have been looking at a picture of 415 at Chester, pretty worn in places so got some scope to cover up those bit with the airbrush I think. I think I will go for only a slight weathering.  Got some balleting drying however we may see her later on this evening Freightliner.

 

 Have not seen much progress on yours recently, or have I missed it,  hows it going ?

37415 "Mt Etna" has arrived back on shed for the night. No freight movements tonight ballast still wet.

 

Tomorrow hopefully I can start on adding a 4th siding in the docks fiddle yard to increase capacity, also want to run the line out of the back of the steelworks into the dock end fiddle yard.
