RMweb Gold big jim Posted August 30, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2011 i seem to remember we tried this in an old evolution of the forum, the problem is getting info from the various suppliers, i can supply howes info via bryan and im sure pauliebanger can do his sounds but the likes of olivias, swd etc are not "officially" represented, only recommended by the end user so the list could end up with incorrect info etc id certainly be willing to contribute if we did get one kicked off though
cassey jones
Wouldn't it be easier just to put up various web sites who do sound chips;- http://www.digitrains.co.uk/ecommerce/search.aspx?loc=1&q=&c=1&m=35&pg=3&s=ProductNameAsc&ppp=10 http://www.howesmodels.co.uk/Railways/viewProducts.php?SubCatID=152 http://www.southwestdigital.co.uk/ http://www.oliviastrains.com/
Nigelcliffe
Even the list of suppliers is incomplete. Add to it: Coastal DCC, YouChoos. And probably many more. And then where is the line drawn, there are suppliers who fit stuff but don't develop their sounds. But that could be said of some of Cassey's list, not all of those actually produce/edit the sounds they retail.
Lady_Ava_Hay
Although probably irrelevant to the OP it has to be said that a lot of the projects listed on previous lists in the forum have been modified or changed beyond all recognition. Could be useful to have a list of sound projects by class though and who stocks them. Lot of work maintaining it though and if nobody keeps it up to date, it will quickly be discredited. Even a straighforward list though will give little indication of whether you, the acquirer, will actually like the sounds. Even reviews can be distorted. robrailltd
Thats what I'm getting at just lists of what is available. Youtube sound quality can leave a lot to be desired when working out which is best.
